Default Advice On Blackberry Enterprise Express Please

I have just installed a new Windows SBS 2008 server for a client and he has asked if we can setup his 11 blackberry smartphones so they can sync with exchange 2007.

Before I say yes I thought I would ask the experts on this forum a few quick questions.

A. Does BESE run on SBS 2008

B. Although I see I can download BESE for free does each handset need a CAL

I seem to be getting mixed answers to both the above.

Thanks in advance for any advice you may be able to give.

Andrew

Andrew,

According to the BESX Official Requirements SBS 2008 is supported. You don't need a CAL for each handset, you can add his 11 devices quick and easy. They need only BIS and you have to do wire activations for each. It's all web driven so giving him the instructions on adding additional devices will be easy and quick. You'll need to forward some ports to the server as well.

Hope this helps!

Not quite. Port forwarding usually refers to the routing of inbound traffic to a specific server. BES only requires port 3101 OUTBOUND be open. RIM will never initiate a call to the BES.
