Thanks for the quick reply. Could you tell me if it auto-connects to other devices too, or is it specific to the Blackberry? My girlfriend likes to be in charge of music when she's in the car and she uses an android phone. I bought the belkin bluetooth gateway, it auto-powers on but doesn't auto-connect.

Ive had it auto pair with other devices. But not all devices might not be the same. I have a car with a JVC deck with bluetooth built in and it will auto pair when the car turns on.

jnaro, Moto makes the rechargable T5500 which takes the BT music and phone calls and sends it to your FM tuner. It sounds great when stationary, but travelling in the car and coming upon new fm stations is a pain because you have to keep switching frequencies. Of course if you're not in a major city this wouldn't be a problem. I now use it in my backyard to send music through my basement stereo to the backyard speakers.
For my Durango I picked up a PIE converter that connects to the unused cd changer connector and I put a 1/8 headphone jack in the dash. Then I use a 2.5 to 3.5mm with mic adapter. This is the cleanest audio, much better than CD's.
For my wifes Caravan, I use a casette to 1/8" adapter, my work Caravan has a connector built into the dash.

I know this is old, but regardless of whether the device "plays music" or not, it is an ancillary device for reproducing music. If you have a superb stereo and a superb music generating device and some inferior ancillary device such as a Bluetooth relay, the sound will be only as good as the least quality device.

So the question was, 'how is the sound' is a real question and begged an answer to which none was sufficiently given.

A simple test of a direct connection vs. a Bluetooth connection should have been simple enough to determine if the gateway in fact reproduced the sound the same as without.

I know this is an older thread but I just ordered one of this so I'll post back if there's any issue using it.

Cheers and thanks for the info in this thread.

Has this product been discontinued? Is there a new product that has replaced it? I would love to own one of these, but every online sotre I visit says they are out of stock and may not be re-stocking it.

This device is the perfect match for BBM Music.

This statement is actually incorrect, it does not play music nor does the source of the music, BUT it is a linking factor of the playback of the music. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link, and in this case "clear". A good test would be to use this via bluetooth and then plug the bb directly in to the AUX and compare "this vs that" Higher end systems there will be a more noticeable gap.

But my educated guess would be sub $300 u won't notice much difference, and on higher end systems u wouldn't want to be using ur phone as a source bluetooth or not.

Hope this helps clear up the Audio issue

I'm looking forward to the version 2 of this great device recently announced. I purchased the Belkin iteration of this and I've only been moderately impressed with it.

Still use mine from time to time, but tend to use this more often. Comes with an adapter that makes it a BT gateway, and it doesn't need an external power source.
