I see that you posted this over a month ago and haven't had a reply? Have you had any luck? I've had my Fusion a year, but just got the 8530 and I'd really like to use the text message function.

I would like to know this also if anyone has an answer. I have a 2010 Ford Escape and the 8530. The owners manual for the SUV says "If your bluetooth enabled phone is connected and supports downloading text messages via bluetooth, you can recieve incoming text messages." How do I know if my phone supports downloading via bluetooth?

Not really sure how to answer that question. You might check on the Blackberry site for more specs. The last time I looked, a couple of weeks ago, the Sync site didn't have any updated information on the 8530, you might try looking there as well. On my version of Sync what kills it for me is the lack of text-to-speech on the phone itself.

I just bought a Ford Fusion 2011 with SYNC VersionGen1 - V3.2.2. I have a BB torch 9800 OS 6.0 bundle 1907. This was bugging the heck out of me for a couple days and I finally got it working.

First thing to do is to go to syncmyride.com and make sure you have the latest update that you can get for your SYNC. The instructions are fairly simple. You will need a USB flash drive.

Once you have updated your SYNC vehicle, make sure to remove your Phone from the bluetooth devices. Also remove SYNC bluetooth device from your phone. Now Add your phone back to SYNC. Once that is completed on your BB phone go to Bluetooth Connections, select SYNC and got to MAP options and make sure that SMS/MMS and New Message Notifications both have checkmarks. Also open your main messages (Not Text Messages), Press BB button, select options, select Inbox Management and make sure that Text Messages is checked.

Now you should be able to send and receive text messages from your SYNC.

Hope this helps. I was quite excited to hear my new car reading my texts to me.
