    At $299, the Z30 is a steal.

And with the Z10 now out of stock is the only option if you want a 4G compatible new world touch screen blackberry.

I went to a Passport from the Z30. Both are great devices and if a more conventional touchscreen is what you're after then the z30 is a great choice. But now that I've had the Passport for a while I can't imagine using anything else...

I have a Passport and still wonder if I made the right choice to stop using the Z30. I think it's a great phone.

Passport user. Happy with it and glad Ihad the chance to experience it. But I'm handing it over to the wife and going back to Z30 until new all touch is released.

I just went through this decision myself.. But wihout benefit of reading here, I forgot about crack berry!
From my bold/torch days I've tried various androids and am currently using my first iPhone (5c) which was a big improvement in onscreen keyboard and battery life over any android I've tried. But I don't use my phone exclusively for entertainment.. Text email some social media , news and browsing. Hadn't even thought of a blackberry in some time.

Then it hit me: blackberry always was right for me, if I got the right device, So I started doing some BB research for the first time in years, couldn't believe all the bad (or so so) reviews. But they are from android or apple fans. People who appreciate the BB strengths seem to feel quite differently. Some say The phone is too thick or too heavy. I mean seriously, it's just physics: do you want a phone that will last there must be appropriate battery.. They are not weightless. So many phone arguments are pretty one sided.. I know I'm preaching to the choir.

    Anyways...

News of the blackberry Classic caught my eye, then I got really excited reading about the passport but just wasn't sure about its new keyboard layout and how easy it would be to carry. And the cost. Almost got a q10 as I love the keyboard.. But recall that browsing is less than ideal on the physical keyboard models with the smaller screen. That's what makes the passport so intriguing. Possibly best of both worlds ?

I decided finally to buy an unlocked phone out of pocket : either a q10 or z30. The reviews of the onscreen z30 keyboard convinced me that having the screen real estate would be worth the extra size of the phone, but not be awkward to carry like the passport might be. My at&t 2 year contract is about 1 year from expiration so I didn't want to use my upgrade discount (with another 2 year commitment) for a couple reasons: not in love with ATT, and my local att store doesn't carry any blackberry at all anymore I found out.
So I figured the z30 hits all the right spots, then I saw it went on sale for $300 so I orddered a white one yesterday. That's cheaper than used z30's on ebay! Very much looking forward to using it and being back in the blackberry fold.

I figure I can still opt for the passport or the classic as part of a 2 year plan pricing , depending on who I go with. I do wish there was a slider... I keep thinking the passport is my phone but I'd like to try one first. I see they just offered a sneak peak passport Black Friday sale so you can get one unlocked for $500 now. That may have affected my decision if I'd known that. Not sure. For what the z30 is I think $300 out of pocket for an unlocked device is pretty fair.

Z30 is now available for $225 on shopblackerry.com.

At that price, the device is a ridiculously good deal. A steal really.

You can call in and get a price adjustment. They are telling people it will take a few days to go up the chain for the $50/$75(depending on country) refund to be issued. Of course its DR so it's likely a YMMV call.

This is purely subjective. If I don't have enough money to buy a BlackBerry 10 device and asks if a second-hand Bold 9900 is still worth buying in 2014, it's definitely a yes. Is the Z30 worth buying? Then yes, if you fancy a full touch device. If you like a physical keyboard more, then go for the Passport, or the Q10, or the Classic if you feel like missing the tool belt part. Simple, isn't it?

^ They have a 30 day return & refund policy, so if they won't give a credit on the price difference when you contact them, then just return the $299 Z30 and order another at the $249 price!

the short answer is yes. I found typing on the larger Z30 as good as on a keyboard. The bonus is extra screen real estate. Also, the Z30 hardware architecture is good for at least another 3-5 years of software upgrades from Blackberry. the Z30 is an unbelievable bargain:-)

My wife and I currently use Z10's but we have always been a bit envious of the larger, and more feature rich, Z30. So, ...., when I woke up yesterday morning and saw that the price of the Z30 dropped to an unbelieveable 225 U.S. per phone I quickly ordered 2 (one black for me and one white for my wife). And, with the phones being unlocked GSM, they will work on AT&T which is our current carrier. This is a fantastic deal for a great phone, especially for those of us with aging eyes that like more screen realestate!

z30 outdated, but good as a back up phone
    outdated? Not a chance.

The Z30 is still far superior to many new release handsets, in both OS, speed, and battery life.

It kills the S5, the i6 is nothing to brag about at all, the only handsets out that beat a z30, are the Note 4, The G3, and the Z2/3, and in regards to the Note 4, the Note 3 actually has a better battery than the Note 4.....

I just did then ame yesterday requesting the current $225 price, they said they escalated it to a higher dept for approval and I "may" get the difference refunded to me ($100!). Fingers crossed. I'll return it and reorder if they don't give me the correct price, this happened in less than 24 hours after I bought it so I'm hoping they just save us all some trouble and give me the refunded amount thanks for pointing out the new low price I never would have noticed most likely!
