I was out in the back country the other day and got caught in a very nasty thunder storm. I grabbed my blackberry and put it in a zip lock, it wasn't soaked but it did have a little moisture on it.

I noticed it was in a reboot loop, it would show the word blackberry in white text and then reboot. It did this until it went dead.

Now when I plug it in to charge I get a red light that stays on for quite a few seconds and then goes off, the green light flashes once and then it repeats that process over and over again while charging.

I've tried the volume buttons and power button for 10+ seconds and it does not change the behavior.

Since I cracked the screen a month ago I doubt I can get warranty service. Is my baby dead?

You can attempt to use Link to reload the OS, but it sounds toast.

Jam some paper inside the back cover too to make sure your battery isn't loose against the contacts.

I guess link is out of the question since the computer recognizes it and then within a split second it stops seeing it. I'll try the paper trick.

It is probably too late, but see my post on how to best recover a device from water:

I'll give it a shot, it's a brick anyways, may as well be a brick in rice.

Ordered a new microphone for my z10 since mine randomly doesn't work, that should hold me over

Good news. After leaving it unplugged for days thinking it was dead I plugged it in this morning and it came back to life and is working great!

Hello guys, so I am trying to revive a water damaged Z30, just replaced battery and I finally got it to be recognized by PC after getting several bb10-0020 errors, was able to wipe it and reload and now the screen shows only greyish horizontal lines, any idea if it's worth replacing screen?

You should be able to find Z30 screen + digitizer + frame assembly for $40-ish US.
Just make sure you check the offered product against your specific Z30 model. The STA100-3 Verizon branded Z30 takes a different part from the other Z30 models, the other models are all the same.
As to if it is worth it, that is up to you.

First, however, I would open the device up and see if the ribbon cable and/or its socket is corroded, you might get lucky and cleaning it will fix it.

DaFoxGrey, thanks for your reply, yesterday when I replaced the middle frame assembly (with battery) I did not see any corrosion and I made sure ribon was seated correctly, but I can double check.
Funny thing is when it first booted the blackberry log and battery error showed up nice and clear so not sure if that tells me is the screen or not.

Thanks again I will reseat cable and go from there.

I did find one on ebay for $39 so I am ready in case I need new one.

As I suggested in the other post - hook up hdmi to tv and see what shows, if anything.

    Good luck
