    This just came in the inbox and has been received by the Blackberry community, media and of course the Blackberry Elites.

    While the email doesn't mention specifically what the event is - word has it that it DEFINITELY is the launch/unveiling of the Blackberry Z30.

    No other info on dates for release or such.

    #TeamBlackberry Malaysia is going strong and loving our 'Berrys.

    PS - I'm sorry if I have the wrong part of the forum. Didn't know where this would fit in as there's no Z30 sub-category unlike for the Z10, Q10 and Q5.

    It's quite competitive in Malaysia (not sure if launch/unveiling dates are the same worldwide). I know Nokia is launching/unveiling the Lumia 1020 on September 19 2013 in Kuala Lumpur, so if (and when) this turns out to be legitimately the launch/unveiling of the Blackberry Z30, Blackberry would have managed to get it right this time to not be eclipsed by the other brands and hitting the iron when it's hot with the Z30. (wasn't that a damn long sentence)

    I did think of that... however apart from 'conversation' - I see nothing that implies Blackberry would bother to pull this together just to announce a cross platform BBM.

    I'm much more inclined to believe this is cross-platform BBM. BBM is popular in the region, while the Z30 is going to need a reveal in a much different region to attract media attention, somewhere like the USA or UK - it's a pretty important device for the company at this stage. Plus, this lines up pretty well with the latest rumoured date for cross-platform BBM.

    Perhaps LazyEvul - but despite reading Kevin's logic behind why an unveiling/launch may not be in the cards so soon, I have a nagging feeling this could be it.

    Well, BlackBerry could generate some buzz by announcing cross-platform BBM but have some employees walk around with Z30's, to show off BBM. Obviously people will ask what device that is and the employees could respond, coyly, that "It's just something we're demoing BBM with." They should let people sneak snapshots of the device. If someone asks if they can post it to the web, the answer would be "no", but if no question is asked, don't say anything... let the photo go where it may go...

    I hope it's true. I just find the timing a bit odd, especially since the very next week is BlackBerry Jam Asia. I thought it might have waited until after the developer conference to unveil the device.

    Then again, maybe BlackBerry is pushing out the last 10.0-based (well, 10.2) device in anticipation of revealing the next major iteration of BlackBerry 10 at Jam Asia. Just speculating...
