One of the first things I noticed about my Z30 (Verizon) when I got it 7 months ago was that the power button seemed flimsy and loose and wasn't very sturdy when I pressed it.

Thankfully, I haven't had any problems with it...until recently. Sometimes, I have to press the button 3 or more times to turn off the screen. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does it's very frustrating.

What's weird is, it seems to wake from sleep just fine when I press it, and also responds just fine to a long-press to reset/power down.

This leads me to believe it may be a software issue. But I've also seen threads where the button itself has broken or literally fallen off.

Has anyone else had similar or other problems with the power button on the Z30?

I can recall posts about jiggly volume keys on early run Z30s, but not the top button specifically.

Did you pick up your Z30 in-store? Try the top button out on others then or since?

You could always try using a case if you don't. A gel skin that covers the top key might hold it more firmly.

At the time, the only way to get a Z30 was to order it online or have the store order it for you and have it shipped.

I haven't tried the power button on others, but maybe I'll stop by a store and see if they have a demo unit I can try.

I don't think a case would help. It's not that I am unable to sufficiently press the button - there is an audible and tactile "click" every time I press it - it's that pressing the button when trying to turn off the screen does nothing.

Fair enough. I figured that was the case about the special order, but thought I'd ask.

If you don't want to be frustrated/disappointed, I'd call around to stores first.
Ask if they have a live demo unit and also if they stock any skin cases. (That way you could try one on your Z30 in-store and see if it made a difference.)

My Z30 currently has a VERY flimsy power key. It's so loose and cheap feeling that when a friend of mine help my phone and tried the button he asked me how I broke the button....

How did you fix yours originally?

I love my z30 but very disappointed in the build quality. Very cheapo feeling. The volume buttons I had to tape on the side under back cover. So they wouldn't be all wobbly. Pretty irritating as it was expensive to buy.

My Z30 also has a flimsy power button. I've gotten used to it, though.

My friend's Z30 had a sticky power key. She just held it down and jiggled it a bit and seemed to fix that issue.

Anyone know where to get Z30 replacement parts? I'm looking to replace the screen, silver bezel and power button if possible.
