Has anyone here tried the Camera++ app with your Z30?
It takes great macro shots! I recently shot about 180 pics of tulips at a Tulip Festival and the macro shots are unbelievable!

agree if you take time to take pictures. My niece told me my Z30 took better pictures than her iPhone but it just needs time to adjust it before shoot picture and the most interesting thing, she loves Time Shift mode.

[QUOTE=Taede;11660961]I wanted to show off my New Canon and needed some High Res shots. My old camera died, I looked down at my Z30 and thought why not give it a go. I was so impressed with the quality of the images and the fact that my Z30 could step up to the task.

Similar thing happened to me. Was in Servile, Spain when my Canon ran out of juice. Pulled out my Z30 and WOW!!! Now some people say we have to admit that the camera is not the best. Well, I don't need better. It did get me worried about something else though. If my Z30 ran out of juice, I would not have been able to make an emergency phone call (even a poor quality one) from my Canon.

I also have started using my Z30 as my primary holiday camera. My Nikon doesn't get a lot of use anymore.

To deal with the battery in that kind of situation, I put the phone in "airplane mode" and keep the screen blanked. I put the screen on only when I'm taking a photo, and minimize the use of the photo preview, and immediately blank the screen again after taking a photo. Does the trick quite well.

While I can appreciate simplifying the amount of gear on a vacation, I personally don't feel the Z30's camera can take the place of a small camera with optical zooming capabilities. While there are features that I really like with the camera app (or 3rd party camera apps), I don't feel that the images on the Z30 are as good as I get on my Canon S95 (I think the Z10 did have a better camera/result or, at least, MY Z10 had a better camera than MY Z30). The Panorama mode on the Z30 is much more user friendly. And, of course, I can easily email photos from the phone and it geo-codes the images. But I can play with zoom and exposure much easier and successfully on a real camera.

But that's just my take on the issue.

A dedicated camera will always yield the best results. So when I am planning to shoot I will always go for my camera. But for those times when I don't want to carry it or don't have it with me and need to snap a photo, it is nice to have my Z30.

Nobody here said a cameraphone is as good as a Canon or a Nikon. Of course they're not.

My point is all about carrying less gear, keeping it simple, and gosh... the images I get are good enough for me. Plus the ability to edit & email & post to Instagram while walking around. It's a balance and a judgment call each of us have to make.

I just got back from 5 weeks in Spain. The number of times I saw guys lugging around these huge cameras with their huge lenses and accompanying cases made me realize I had made the best choice for me.

Plus one of my buddies had a point and shoot Canon and to be honest, he didn't get photos much better than mine most of the time. And he couldn't take panoramic pics nor could he send or post his pics until he got back to his room.
