I dropped z30 from knees height and well god bye screen!!!

    Bought it last month too

I previously owned z10 and it was never this fragile but then z10 died for no reason after 6months.

    Anyways it was my fault.

But my light and motion sensor doesn't work anymore. (tested with bbve)

Will it be OK if I put new screens on?

The screen will work but maybe not the sensors. I dropped mine at least 10 times. Cracked the corner of the screen. Still worked fine. Replaced the screen so I didn't have cracks.

Edit. I think those are in the screen also so maybe they will.

The screen is VERY easy to replace. You can search the forum and YouTube for links on where to purchase screen and materials for replacement, along with a tutorials. Screen replacement should cost you no more than $50.

As far as fragility goes... has more to do with Physics and surface it lands on... the angle at which your device lands and on what determines the extent of damage to the unit... Youtube is littered with videos of "torture tests" of various smartphones... no one is alike.... hence the point made... seen Iphones dropped from the same hight with some units damaged and others without a scratch... basically a crap shoot... good luck to the OP... a real bummer when this happens no matter what the reason....

Dropped mine from desk height. It fell on back/battery side. Had heart palpitations, until I picked it up and saw that all was well. Only had it about 6 weeks.

Mine fell on the corner of top left side. It dropped on hard surface and got shred

I'm in Mexico the screen price is about 80$ dollar original white.

Oh well next month I'm going to buy passport though..

I'm trying to revive blackberry here in Mexico.

I still see people using BlackBerry os7 device with their iPhone 6 or other new device.

They are actually impressed about bb10.

Any smartphone screen can get destroyed depending on conditions, the good news is the Z30 has about the easiest screen to replace, ever. Check etradesupply for good deals on the screen - just make sure you get the right version.

I take it there was no "insurance" on the device? I buy the insurance for the first year on a new device/release/purchase, until the replacement cost of the unit drops below the launch price.

Sorry to hear about your accident.........

Wow. Sorry for your loss OP.
I have dropped my phone many times but no damage. I guess it depends on where and how you drop it. I have been lucky. Hope you can replace the screen alright.

Dropped mine several times with no issues except one drop from 4ft onto concrete on the upper left corner with nothing but a scuff and small ding on the silver band. Very surprised the screen didn't crack.

Welp. I just dropped by one month old Z30 for the first time today. Unfortunately it went down 4 flights of steps and there goes the screen! I'm torn between the otterbox commuter and the aegis trident. Which should I get? I need to fortify my phone after I do a screen change
