My sister's Z30 went black screen, froze, then rebooted.

After she noticed all of her pictures were gone! They were on her SD card. Any ideas on what happened or how to get them back?

Had the same thing happen to me a while back. Don't think it's the phone..think it was a failing sd card.

I used a recovery program on my laptop to recover most of the photos. Worked well.

    Recuva

Most likely the pictures are still on the card, but the card isn't being correctly read by the phone.

Take the card out and open it on a PC. Copy all the contents from the card to the PC, format the card and copy the contents back to the card. Put it in the phone and let the phone re-index the card.

And set up Dropbox, Box or Onedrive to sync the pictures. Or sync them manually with a pc.
Too often people realise how important a backup is when it is too late and their stuff had gone, forever.
