I've set the brightness to minimum. I feel it still bright, my eyes hurt when I see my phone in the night. I'm on 10.3.1.2558 official.

Well there's nothing lower than the lowest, otherwise they would have allowed the bar to go even lower.

This still needs to be addressed. The panel is capable of going dimmer and brighter

Are you using dark wallpapers and dark themes in as many apps as possible? I wish BlackBerry would have brought us the dark hub. Every time I open the hub up early in the morning it blinds me. A dark hub would make this a non issue. Every app that I can run dark I do.

Agreed. I'm also on minimum with .2744, it's definitely brighter than previous builds which effects the battery in the negative way.

Dark hub would be truly amazing, and the ability to set the brightness a bit darker.

However: god what an amazing phone. 10.3.1 isn't as stable as 10.2.1 yet, but I'm confident 10.3.2 will bring it. And we will finally have the good calendar back!! Just a hit off topic, sorry!!

    Yeah, I feel you.
I thought they were gonna add it in 10.3.1, but I hope they at least added it in the official 10.3.2.

Also the automatic brightness is erratic... sometimes works but most of the times it doesn't... it isn't quick to respond if you compare to most Androids...

On the higher builds (10.3.2.500 and 680) there is brightness setting and a color setting. Color setting displays white balance which allows for various amounts of cool vs warm white.

The brightness and display warmth setting has been there since 10.2.1 on my z30... its just that the auto brightness cannot be turned off by the user.

Also, sometimes I too feel that the display could be dimmed even further from the lowest level to save more power...

This doesn't matter - the glare is too much when reading in a dark room e.g. bed. Dark themes of course mean less white light but the screen light is still there. Of course you're not supposed to read in bed, it affects your body's sleep response. Disregarding this I find if I set the brightness to lowest and turn on reader mode, the white of the text is much too bright. I bought blu blocking sun glasses that help but even then it's still too bright. My old iPhone plus Dolphin browser meant I could lower the screen brightness of almost nothing (or as low as I'd like). This was so good, I could still read and wear sunglasses and my sleep wasn't affected (nor was my partner or baby if they were in the bed).

Simple put the screen doesn't go dark enough for night time/dark situations. I find it doesn't go too bright either but in Ireland where it's cloudy a lot it's not much of a problem

Other than that I like the Super AMOLED screen a lot and I don't notice the low-ish PPI, by modern standards.

It's painful to look at the screen at night in bed and probably damaging to the eyes.

I like the idea of a dimming filter to place over the screen...like one used to view the sun!
Anyone have any ideas of a material and where to get it?

Possibly a "polarizing film" of some sort? Or just some gray colored film or filter material.
