Not to be rude but it always kills me when people say they are a heavy user. I pull my phone off usually between 6-6:30 am. Look at my battery level drain. My Z30 never leaves my hands this is hard core. I will have to charge by 4pm today. I'm not complaining as I am hard user. This phone is by far the longest lasting smartphone. But I would never get through a day without having to out it on the charger by early evening.

This is physic and a basic with batteries... I think so... My varta Fast-Loading batteries for example are faster empty when I dont need them as normal batteries... And yes it should be true... Think on such things as temeprature and so on....
I think you're somewhat correct. It is better for Li-ion batteries to be charged slowly than aggressively because it prolongs the battery's life span.

Are you saying that the battery life is disappointing, or just that you're a mega-heavy user? There's always gonna be a debate about what constitutes light/normal/heavy users. If you watched 4 movies on the bounce you're battery will be far lower than if you sent 4 texts.

I use the Mobi Products Desktop Charging Cradle for the BlackBerry Z10 while charging my Z30 overnight in bedside mode. I am heavier than most people that I know, but no games really and my Z30 is between 30-40% when i go to bed a night, no need to charge during the day. I had planned on getting a wireless charger for it but might be a waste of money.

I have a wireless charger just to help keep the USB from being used so much.

I used to have a z10 so anything that lasts over 5hrs is impressive, but when I switched to the z30 I was hoping that it would at least last me a whole day before I'd need to charge it but I still need to charge the phone mid day.. this is what my device monitor looks like

We, that is some quite heavy usage, altho your device monitor suggests 13hrs, not a midday charge as you say?

Wow! Instagram sure seems to be hogging a lot of resources....also, being in an area with bad reception where the phone struggles to find signal will also sap battery. I could not imagine a Z30 lasting only 12 or 13 hours. Is Instagram always that much of a battery hog, or is that extreme use? Glad I don't mess with that! Lol

I use the charger that came with the phone and it gets fully charged in about 4 hrs from about a 20% charge. I did notice that the charger has a USB cord that is thicker than usual.

you might be on to something, reception at my work is balls & i'm always switching between that and the terrible wifi we have (whatsapp won't send/receive pics on my work's wifi for some reason) - or it could just be instagram lol

My wife is a light user and can last two days. I consider myself a heavy user and I have only had a Z30 since Friday night and the battery life is getting good.

I've heard that Whatsapp is a major battery drainer too. Looks like you have the battery wrecker trifecta going on! ;-)

I think it varies. I've heard that also, but not for me. Now Twitter... kills my battery. Ditched it almost straight away. It is odd how some people have huge drain with certain apps, and other not.

The oddity can be explained by two factors:
    - app internal scalability: the number of contacts you have matters, especially to notify their presence.
    - app combination misplay: several apps can use timeouts at different length with phasing effects leaving the radio on most of the time.

So all in all you must ask your app provider using the system push notification to improve efficiency.
And i think that presence and availability exposed to the other side is a stupidity.

    Z30 battery with a hardcore user-img_20140503_191124.png

I took it off charging by around 7am.. and battery was down to less than 20% by 1.30pm.

On most days I can get through till about 5pm before I need to plug in my charger again.. that's less than 12 hrs. Pretty great for a 5 inch smartphone, much much better than my Z10 but I have never gotten 25 hours of battery life.. NEVER!!

Your PIM and System percentages seem very high. I would look into what causes that. I easily make it through a full day (6:30AM - 11PM) with about 30% to spare with mixed usage and heavy web browsing. If I stuck only to phone calls and messaging, I'm very confident I would get two days of battery. But I do not use Whatsapp or any other Android apps.

So how do I find that out? And what could possibly be causing them to use more battery?

Yes. The first day or two it is doing a lot behind the scenes indexing stuff, it will settle out.

Think I might be a hardcore-hardcore user as I charge my Z30 overnight, goes of charge about 06:30 am and by 16:00 it's on it's last legs so to speak. But I'm not complaining. With my Z10 I had it on charge by 12:00pm already.
