Depends on what "it" is, and what you need in a smartphone. For me it's everything I need, though I'm still wishing for a powerhouse replacement running BB10.

Basic all around functionality... I had one about a year ago and it had a lot of bugs.. not sure if it still does. I did like the size and form factor though.

I have had mine since May and so far, knock on wood, no bugs. For standard things like calls, texts, and Web browsing it is a fine phone. The only issue would be if you needed a lot of apps. But the phone excels at all of the basic functions of a smartphone. Plus you can find some for really cheap which makes for a great bargain.

I have had my Z30 1st October 2013 almost two years and it still works well in 2015, good battery life and it's on 10.2 never updated it as I watch several TV stations and Flash player required, it does every thing I need, and there are some new ones available on line at a very low price, worth buying as it can be bought below cost of the Leap.

I left the Z10 about 4 months ago and I'm pretty happy with it. I miss the small size of the Z20, but you do get used to it

I'm still using a Z30. Still worked amazingly great for me, even knowing the standards of smartphones. The OS is what it's worth.

I moved over from a Z10 back in October 2014. The Z30 by far has been the best BlackBerry I've ever owned. it's also one of BlackBerry most underrated units ever made.

That being said, I'm definitely going to watch the BlackBerry Priv progress and see how well it does in real world scenarios. Then I might make the leap (no pun intended) over to that Android segment.

But to answer the original question, is the Z30 even a good purchase today? I would say if you could get it under the $250 mark.....it would be a great deal. Anything over that would be expensive for a 2013 phone.

    Look! It's Zedzilla30!

I bought a used one off of E-Bay a month ago and absolutely love it. I use my one year old HTC 1 M8 as a back up if needed, but the Z-30 runs like a champ...totally satisfied with my purchase...

Good luck finding one these days. If find one, congratulations! Join the club!

Glad I got my Z30 when Staples were selling them.

Long time owner of a Z10 when Fido was offering it for $0.00 on a two year contract. Used the **** out of the Z10. Great phone but hated the battery life.

I was going of purchasing the Leap but went with the Z30.

What I love about the Z30:
the mini HDMI, OTG, maricast, massive 2880 mha battery, the 5" screen, faster GPU, AMOLED screen, 2x wonderful loud speakers.

Went to to Best Buy to try out "maricast" on a brand-new Samsung smart TV 68"and amazed myself it works well and surprised the salesman with the a 2 year old BlackBerry can still do in 2015.

The Z30 holds well on its own with 2 year old hardware. It's a powerful device. Believe all the z30 owners when they say it's the best BlackBerry device they've ever owned . It's the Swiss army knife of all the "full touch device ".

I want to see reviewers on YouTube compare this phone to other phones of 2015 and show the how a 2 year-old z30 device can still be faster and more versatile then high-spec'ed androids /iOS/windows phones.

BlackBerry 10 gestures for life! Home button is so 2007.

    That's just my 2 cents.

    Cheers!

I was using my Z30 up until a week ago.
After just over a year of use, everything still runs great but it's definitely slow compared to flagship phones.

It worked fine as a daily phone and I'm sure there are plenty of people here still using a Z30 as a daily so there's no reason why it wouldn't make a great backup phone. I never buy new phones as backup phones though, I just keep my old devices.

I got one as a backup, and actually used it as a backup when I send the classic in for keyboard problems. It's a good phone, good sound, good battery. It was faster and ran more apps than the classic. I still have it as a backup and use it to play youtube to my tv via hdmi. So as a backup phone you can't go wrong. Also I bought mine used with no accessories in ok conditions quite cheap. I wouldn't buy a new one as a backup now but if I had a lot of money that would be a different story.

I wish I could get a new Z30 or two for 100 dollars each.
I can't see paying 200 each for an outdated phone.

    I want some Z30's because I can't use a phone named Priv.

But maybe I'll give up and go to an android that doesn't still charge a fortune for 2 year old phones.
