I know that there are several threads on this issue, but I wanted to post this topic and get some possible advice anyways.

I own a Z10 STL-100-3 currently running BB OS 10.2.3062. My phone is going on two years since purchase and I am very pleased with my device. The Z10 has proven to suit my needs and requirements and come out far ahead of other comparable devices in terms of productivity, usage, versatility and just pure built quality powered by one of the most fluid and well developed operating systems to date.

However as the two year mark approaches, I am starting to consider an upgrade. I am very clear that that upgrade will be another BlackBerry smartphone. Yet I am also certain that that upgrade won't be a Passport (which I recently tried out) or the upcoming Classic. I don't wish to go back to a physical QWERTY keyboard device after completely embracing the all touch model.

While oftentimes the all touch BlackBerry devices are, I find, wrongly maligned and underrated, I love them.

Now, due to the lack so far of any news of a new line-up of all touch devices, or even a single successor to the current ones, the only viable alternative for me would be the Z30.

I am a pay-as-you-go user and bought the Z10 at full price from my carrier, which no longer carries almost any BlackBerry devices, except the Q5. So I would have to purchase an unlocked GSM Z30 from perhaps Shop Crackberry or some other seller, and take it to them.

The question is, is the Z30 still worth buying as a successor to the Z10? Is it worth it as an already one year old device? Or should I hold out for a possible new generation of all touch BlackBerry smartphones?!

The switch up is an absolute positive thing. The difference in the overall experience from one device to the other is noticeable right from the start!

I went from the Z10 > Z30 > Passport and wow! Major differences in the overall difference in performance. Some may like, some may not. To each their own views and observations.

If your debating, don't. Just do it! I'm sure you won't regret it!!

Enjoy your new Z30 if do!!!

If I understood carefully, the all touch may not come anytime soon. I believe that BlackBerry is concentrating on the keyboard devices for now. I'm not saying that they are not developing the next generation all touch, just saying it may be awhile.

The passport is not for everyone, but I can say that it's a GREAT device and a serious workhorse! If this something your going to use for work and play!

I do most of my business on this device! I receive between 850 - 1000 emails a day and manage with ease from anywhere! Don't need a lappy anymore!! :-)

    Cheers!

I don't know when the next bb10 full touch screen is coming out but the deal now on shop BlackBerry is just to good to give up for 300 and you get a brand new z30

Z30 hardware was designed to be good for about 5 years of software upgrades as they come along, battery life will improve, the typing experience will improve (I found the Z10 too small to type on), and larger screen size. All in all, I believe you will be extremely pleased after moving to the Z30.

I just bought a Z30 from BlackBerry for $299. A new touch device doesn't look close and I wanted an upgrade. For $299 and maybe $100 back selling my Z10 it's a reasonable stop gap.

Yes it's worth it. I am coming from a Z10. I ordered a Z30 yesterday from shop BlackBerry for $299. After I got to use my brothers Z30, I ran to my iMac to order immediately!

Absolutely. The best stereo speakers, bigger screen so also better typing, battery life is amazing!! faster, and the amoled screen is nice (maybe you have to get used to it but just adjust the screen settings)
The Z30 is way better than the Z10

I have to agree with the above posts. I picked up a $299 Z30 from shopblackberry and have been using it since Monday. Kicking myself for not switching earlier, this is the phone they should have released with BB10. It's worth it alone for the added battery life. Never mind the rest of the perks.

One drawback is the difficulty finding cases for it. Other than that it is by far a superior phone, and for $300 it's a hell of a deal.

I agree> loved the ten, but the Z30 is much better device. The radio alone is a nice upgrade plus what others have mentioned. 300 sheets for an unlocked quality phone. Its a steal.
ps I have the white one. looks well sharp
pps I bought a case for $4 online

Definitely worth the upgrade in many ways. I liked the size of the Z10, but I couldn't handle the battery life.

I agree with everything above, and would echo the sentiment that the keyboard has made life a lot easier. I repeatedly tried to switch from a Q10 to a Z10, but every time I struggled with typing; the Z10 felt cramped to me. But on the 30 I feel like I have space to spread out a bit. Much more pleasant experience than the 10. Still adjusting to life without a physical keyboard, but am definitely enjoying typing on glass for the first time ever.

Also, battery life...cannot over emphasize that one!

Yes, definitely yes. You will be asking yourself why you didn't do the switch sooner. I love my Z10 to death, but Z30 is in a different league. I didn't regret the switch for a second.

I enjoy the z30. I was previously on z10. I am even happier that my friend who was a previous BB employee was able to get it for a 250 for me. But aside the price, this one more enjoyable as battery is better but also processing is much faster delivering a smoother experience. Z10 is still good for battery swap which I miss. But so far I haven't worried about being out of battery throughout the day.

I enjoyed the Z10 but the Z30 is an upgrade in nearly every way. It has a slightly faster processor, much improved graphics card, better radio, better build quality, carbon fiber back, bigger (and imo as someone who prefers AMOLED - better) screen, much bigger and better battery life, etc.

This is my first day with the Z30 from the Z10. The only thing I cannot do with the Z30 that I could have done with my Z10 is text and drive. But that can be dangerous so it is good to make the switch. You will find that you will make less mistakes when typing as you are use to a tighter keypad.

The Z30 is not a lot bigger bit it feels a lot bigger and pleasing to the eye.

I really thought I would miss my Z10 more than I really did today. I am almost glad it died.

just got my z30 today, what a long wait time to get it, but the reception is world class over my z10. my z10 would max at 3 bars and my z30 will give me 5 bars of reception in my house so im very happy about this. and im also using the cricket network which was bought by AT&T and the service switch has taken place so im getting 5 star and bar reception. I was also able to transfer my music and video files from the z10 memory card to the z30 memory card via NFC and Bluetooth. I am very happy about the price and my z30. attaboy blackberry and john chen keep up the great work.

So far really love my Z30. The only thing that I miss is that no one ever ask me what phone im using anymore. I guess it looks more like Samsung. With my white Z10, i got a lot of wow.

$299 is a steal for the Z30! This phone is a beast and only bested within the BlackBerry family by the Passport. I have a buddy that works for BlackBerry so that's how I made my leap from a Z10 to the Z30, so glad I did too. As much as I loved my Z10, it's toy now in comparison to the Z30.

Everything with exception to maybe form factor the Z30 does better.

    Look! It's Zedzilla 30!
