    Hmm. I guess I'll call it the NSA icon. My wifi is off, never used miracast or direct wifi, I even rebooted the phone. Icon still there. NSA repeater it is. Funny, it's not in downtown NY city, I'm in rural Ohio lol

    Actually makes more sense hearing you're in a rural location. Instead putting up expensive towers the big providers often install extenders in public, underserved areas.

    Like was stated earlier this means you are connected to a "Verizon Wireless Network Extender".

    It is a device that connects to your home Internet and creates a small cell signal.

    Verizon BlackBerry smartphones since the 9930 have used that icon to indicate the connection.
