I bought a used Z30. I put in a Public Mobile Sim card and it doesn't work. Obviously the phone is locked. I want to unlock it but to get the unlock code I'm asked for the original carrier/network it was on.

My question is how do I find out which network the phone was originally on?

Any way of finding this out? Thanks.

I'm no longer on BB10, but as I recall the carrier name should be in Settings with the information about Network and SIM.

You should also be able to determine this through a database lookup of your phone's IMEI number.
