Probably will be launched with the passport. Works much like Link does not. It reconizes your device on the WiFi network or plugged into your PC. Then you have access to your SMS, BBM, Email, etc through it.

What I haven't figured out yet is whether or not if it'll simply replace link.

You can connect to Blend using Bluetooth, Wifi or usb cable (and possibly network)
And you'll have access to the hub (sms, bbm, email and you can respond to them). You'll also have access to your files and a few others.

And NO, it will not replace Link

Does that mean remote file access would also be integrated with Blend?

This is GREAT news! Looking forward to using Blend while at work. We can't install any software on these machines so Blen should take care of me having to look at the phone and respond to messages/e-mails.

One of the features I missed from the old Symbian Nokia days and their sync tools.

Question is: Will it Blend? Kidding....

Well I still think that it needs to be installed on your machine. So you'll need you IT department to do that at least.

Oh here I was thinking it was a web based system that synced with the BB device.

I'm pretty sure it's Web based. But it's possible it requires something like how netflix requires silverlight

You download the app one your device. You download the app on your computer. You pair them. You login with your BBID. You connect however you wish, network, WiFi, USB. You access files, documents, music and such all on your laptop/desktop/tablet. It integrates with some third party apps such as BlackBerry Express, File Manager, etc. It is, essentially an HTML5 based app that can be run within a web browser, as a webview or any other applicable 'container' that can run HTML5 apps or connect to the internet. It is magical. You will love it.

Battery yes because it doesn't have to power the screen, but it'll use up data to send the emails BBM files, etc.

It doesn't replace Link, it requires Link to be installed to work.

It doesn't synchronise or back up any data stored on the phone to the the computer or tablet it just provides a view of it over a network connection, be it Bluetooth, WiFi or USB.

Sorry if I may not have understood completely.... but I guess this Blend will not cover the gap with the iCloud from Apple, right?
The main reasons why many people are still stuck with the iPhone is because of the complete sync of calendar, contacts and emails, etc via iCloud.
Do you have any comment on this?
    Thanks
