If you pull too hard when the clasps are still in, it may damage the battery cover. This just happened to a friend of mine lol.

Be sure to slightly pry open the bottom cover a few and then the bottom right or bottom left of the cover with your finger nail to unclasp one more clip before you completely remove the battery cover. I suspect once you remove the cover a few times it loosens up some of the clips, but since our devices are brand new it may take some time before it's easier to remove the battery cover. You have been warned

Yes. You can loosen the protective screen over the speaker too. It should just re-adhere when pressed though.

Wow he must have been really prying on that. They are super stiff for the first few times taking them off. I found the exact same thing on my Z10. But once you have done it a few times it gets easier.

himmm. well design problem the battery door could be slided to open to prevent it. that may be the reason why z 30 can not be opened.

Please no. I HATED the sliding back on the 9780. Always came off, couldn't use my case for it because it would take the back off everytime I removed it. Horrible design.

    Be careful people

You can always buy the flip case and store your damaged back.

    Easy fix,

Just slide your nail under the mute button on the side of the Z30.
Slide up and down and the Battery Cover comes off easily.

    Enjoy,

Why do you have to take the cover off to begin with? I haven't touched mine since I fired it up when I got it. Thanks for the heads up cause it is a tight fit!!

I keep my fingernails really short for sports, so I could not figure out how to safely open mine. Finally I discovered using a plastic knife (from a take out food place) would allow me to pry up the case a bit. Working the knife around a little would cause the back to safely pop off. The plastic the knife is made of is softer than the aluminum casing and the back cover so it causes no scratches or gouges to either.

Neither have I, but I must admit that I've been wanting to take the back cover off again. Why? Because I like the look of the Z30s back without the case it's cool...
