    Hi.
I can't read some videos on my Z30 but there is no issue on my Z10.

The 2 phones are on the official update. Z10 with a leak and now official one.
I just update mine, tried, and still the issue.

I used BB link, to install a clean one. And still the issue.

Is someone had this problem ?

    It's a mkv, like I watched a lot on the Z10.

    It's really frustrating........

    Thx all !

I tried on both phone by the WiFi. Z10 no issue.
I tried on Z30 with USB OTG and still no way.

Last try will be to put the file on the SD card. I don't believe it'll work.

How long have you waiting since you updated the OS?
It takes a while for some of the audio and video and pictures to show up or be indexed.

And no issue with the z10, 10 mins after updated it.

How did you load or copy the videos to the Z30?

You might want to erase them on the Z30 and either try copying them again or copy them from the Z10.

Oh, I've not really tried doing that REMOTE FILE ACCESS in a while. What is happening? Are the files not showing on the Z30 or they show but when you try playing them, that fails? I've generally copied the files to my device but clearly that takes extra time and takes up storage space.

I updated on Friday afternoon and noticed one of the things not working now is video playback. I get sound ok but no video pictures. The videos have mainly been recorded on the device and there are some others added from my pc. ALL worked ok before the update.

    Anyone have any ideas please?

I can concur with this. Several mkv files that worked on my Z10 doesn't work on the Passport with the latest 10.3.1.1565 release. Why would Blackberry remove video format support?

I tried a lot of things. And now I have an other pbl with my Z30. I used Link to made it a new one. Same issue. No mkv video. I tried few autoloaders. Nothing else and still the issue.

I'm now on 10.3.2 and my Z10 can connect to Blend Beta but not my Z30. The 30 can connect but lose connexion after 2 mins. Maybe an hardware issue ?

10.3.2.xxxx is a BETA and may have a variety of issues.

I'm not sure but mkv files are not all compatible with BB's video player. It depends on more than just the file type but also the audio and video coding.

Ok. I have a classic now. And still no .Mkv readable. And still no issue to watch all pm my videos files with my Z10.

Is it possible that the video player is different ? Or is it an hardware issue ??

I tried 10.3.2 on both Z10 and Z30 and no improvement. Only the Z10 can read .mkv

I got an answer from BlackBerry help.
    Attachment 351619

    Not useful.
Maybe I'll try to get the video player from Z10. Sachesi or anything else. ...

    I tried 10.3.2 on my 3 devices :

Video player don't work for mkv on the classic and Z30. Z10 works

Blend doesn't work on my Z30. Seems normal on classic and Z10. After one day buggy on classic.

Blackberry help didn't help me with my video issue.

    I don't understand these differences.

And I miss waze on my Classic.

Possibly use a 3rd party video player. Kalemsoft, I THINK, can play mkv files.

I wonder if BB did not purchase a license or whatever to decode mkv files on the newer Z30/Classic.

What happens if you copy the file off the computer and on to the BlackBerry devices that are having trouble playing them?

Kalemsoft does handle .MKV files, however so does the native player.
But remember that .MKV is not a A/V encoding format, it's a container for one or more video, audio, subtitle, chapter, and other meta tracks.
How those tracks are created from whatever codec was used to encode them will effect the player's ability to play them back.
With literally hundreds of different types and brands of codecs for both video and audio, and no real way to make a mobile device have codecs and licensing for every possible type, play back is always an issue. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_codecs
Where Kalemsoft comes in handy is that it comes with additional codecs that are not native to the BB10 player, so you have the ability to handle a greater variety of media.

I have copied on my z30 SD card an .mkv file and then opened it. No issues.

There's a Win program called MediaInfo which can show the audio and video codec used in various types of video files. While I don't recall the specific types that can be deciphered by the Z30, etc, it can sometimes help to figure out why certain video files don't replay.

BB10 AV supported formats and codecs:
    https://developer.blackberry.com/dev...a_support.html

At one time audio codec AC3 was supported, but it isn't appearing on the lists now.
AC3 is a popular audio codec and a lot of people use it in their MKV files.
    BlackBerry 10 supports video files with AC3 audio unofficially | CrackBerry.com <-- 2/1/2013 article.
One possibility is that the older device may still have the AC3 decoder built in, which it why it can play the files but the newer devices can't?
