The past few times I have tried to backup my z30 using Blackberry Link, it has been giving me this error that reads

"Backup did not complete. Verify that your device is turned on and connected to Blackberry Link, and try again."

Clearly my device is connected via USB. Has anyone else experienced this problem or can give me any guidance? If it matters, I am running Windows 8.1 on a Surface Pro 3. Thanks in advance!

My windowz 8.1 does the same thing to me occasionally. I just keep rebooting and trying it.

Sometimes removing the device from the list of devices on link will somehow trigger a connection when it's created new. You should be able to see that list on left side of menu. Click on the corresponding pin or device name and select "remove device".

Blink is not connected. Make sure you have the latest Blink, reboot your computer. Open Blink, connect your Z30 and WAIT. The computer will install the Z30 driver, tell you it was successful, tell you now connected. At that point you are connected successfully to your PC only. Then Blink will take over and try to connect. It will tell you if connected or not, but it should connect. Try it.
By the way what are you trying to back up with Blink?

Are you referring to Link when you say Blink?
I'm just trying to do a full backup for my z30.
The version I'm running now is 1.2.4.27. Is this the latest version of Link?
