Could you guys please give me some helpful hints on what to look for when buying a Z30 privately. How can I make sure it is not stolen etc..
Any advice will be greatly appreciated

Ask the guy to call the phones customer support from the service provider :-) from rogers, it's *611 directly from the phone. He'll either have the verification info to get past and the agent can verify all.

Always ask for the imei, then call provider and verify it wasn't reported as stolen or lost! Not fool proof but about best you can do

I think one of the best things you can do is buy from a reputable seller and use a method that provides you with buyer protection. Using eBay for example you'll find a lot of Z30's for sale. Check the seller's feedback, carefully read the description of the item and don't be afraid to ask questions before you buy.
