Oh my god, south Texas resident here as well. Why (thank you, really) do you have to make it THAT much easier for me to rationalize with myself to go ahead and jump on the STA100-5?

Where is a good and reliable place to purchase the -5 version, if you don't mind?
I bought mine on eBay though you could get one from Negri Electronics or GSMNation. Yes the STA100-5 would be the best model available at the time for T-Mobile.

Wait, are you T-Mobile or AT&T? I'm on AT&T, but seeing as though the -1 isn't available, the -5 is the next choice.

Thanks for the purchasing input too.

Yeah I'm on AT&T. I was answering someone else's question too. Good luck with your purchase! Here is a speedtest I took with my Z30 on AT&T! It's sweet!

I got tired of waiting and got a STA 100-5 last weekend. Went into the AT&T store with it and the reps in there had NO clue about the phone. They loved my Z30, but they had no clue that it existed. SMH.

It wouldn't be so bad of we could buy the STA100-1 (the Z30 LTE compatible with AT&T) somewhere...anywhere... I don't care of AT&T ever sells the phone but the STA100-1 is a real model that passed FCC approval so it needs to be sold by someone...

I'm using STA100-5 & get LTE consistently where I live (Chicago) on AT&T. Here's a screen shot that I just took.

How do you display the mobile network info showing what bands are being used?

    Download the Signal app:

The select Radio, and then switch to RF bands.

The Signal app. Though it only shows the band's that are available with your phone and not the actual band your phone is using.

That lists the ASIN of B00FIQSPD0, which looks to be the STA100-2. That definitely won't get you LTE on AT&T:

If you figure that out, please let us know. :-)

We are all waiting for the STA100-1 to be released. In the meantime the STA100-5 has the best chance of getting LTE coverage in some places on AT&T. If you are happy with food old 4G though, the -5 will give it to you no problem.

Sigh... frustrating.... so I think I'm gonna go get a Q10 using my upgrade availability now on AT&T to satisfy my compulsive desire to give more of my money to BlackBerry while the STA100-1 finally shows up.

I'm happy for your LTE speed. I'm jealous.

And I know they aren't going to tell me first before everyone else, it's pressure and the more we can put on then the higher percentage it will have an effect.

I'm doing all there is to do besides waiting.

What a second. You expect ATT reps to know about a phone that the company they work doesn't sell?

Speaking for myself - Store reps no... PR folks responding on Twitter or Facebook yes... because they have the resources to find out before answering.

Honestly it's the refusal to tell us anything that is really getting my goat. I would rather be told it's 2 months away so I could stop looking almost every dag.

The big problem with ATT as I see it, was the videos that all have ATT branding, the company's complete silence and Verizon having an "exclusive". I do not think ATT will ever carry the phone and if they do, it will be irrelevant as there will be a newer BB out. So my comment and my action is/was to take your business elsewhere. I really advocate moving to VZW as I have. Really has been seamless. I am sorry for those who are unable to do so. It is important to support the carrier that did elect to carry the phone particularly as a message to those who did not. JMHO.

I'm about to give up waiting for the Z30-1 and give in to the peer pressure from my co-workers to get a Windows phone.

I have been postponing them saying I wanted to wait until Windows Phone 8.1 shipped and new hardware came out, but the battery life (or lack thereof) in the Z10 is killing me.

I just carry 4 z10 batteries. I rarely use more than 3 total in a day - as the battery life has really improved.

The quick swap in 3 minutes is fine and I like using the batteries to the end.

I just recharge them all at night
