The battery on my z30 has swollen. What can I do since it is not a detachable battery? Is the device a paperweight waiting to explode?

Well, you can replace the battery. You're just not really supposed to if you have zero experience in doing it - https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/BlackBe...lacement/38581 / https://www.etradesupply.com/blog/bl...bly-tear-down/

It isn't guaranteed to explode spectacularly but internally something has gone awry and you should stop using it and replace it. Whether "it" is the battery, the Z30 itself, is up to you.

Or it could start gassing which certainly isn't pleasant.
