My hubby and I have the same phone, Z30, on the same network, Fido. He got an update a few weeks ago that fixes the camera and also seems to make games from Snap function properly where as mine do not. I bought my phone direct from Amazon and his came from MTS originally. For the big update earlier this year I manually loaded it via a link from Crackberry. What causes it to not update despite being on the same network? Is there any way to make it forget it came from Amazon?

Honestly a auto loader is the best method anyways, OTA updates can cause a few bugs. or even update via sachesi as its non destructive.

Thanks you. I didn't realize OTA updates could be any different. I'll find the thread again and do it that way.. Sachesi sounds familiar, I'm pretty sure that's what I used previously.

So the link has three different versions for the Z30 to choose from, you're showing version 10.2.1.3442, but it has 10.2.1.2339 in three different sizes. Which one should I use? I did use Sachesi last time, but refuses to install now. I remember this going much easier last time :P

I have not updated yet because there's no wifi near me that's why I have still 10.2.1 ,the link I have given you is of 10.3.2.2339 which I think is the latest os for now and also you can't downgrade from 10.3.2. It's not that difficult the instructions are given in the 2nd link.

Perfect, I'll try it and let you know how it all goes. Instructions are very basic indeed, I was just unsure of which I should use. Thanks a bunch!

Mine is 10.3.1.1784, my hubby's updated a few weeks back to .2168. It fixed the incredibly slow camera and some other minor glitches.

I'm on 10.3.2.2168 and I've had not had any issues so far. Got my update OTA though. I'm wondering if your updating issue has to do with the model of device you are using. Is it different than your husband's?

Right you are, just checked, his is STA100-5 and mine is STA100-2. I got the white one, he has the black. I'll have to look at that in the future when buying phones...

Used the autoloader and everything went smooth and super fast. Thanks so much for the links and info, it's very much appreciated. I think the term "destructive" was scaring me off the autoloader to begin with. Works great, app updates came through and the camera is fast again. I'm sure I'll notice other fixes as I go along as well.

Basically, it just means that your current settings, contacts, messages, and third party apps are removed during an auto-loader install, as in it "destroys" those things.
You can, however, restore them from a backup made before using the auto-loader.
Upside, any issues with bugged settings or corrupt apps is cured.
Downside is, if you forgot to back up, you have to start from scratch.

Using Sachesi is considered non-destructive, as it is only overwriting the system files and core, not effecting the settings, contacts, etc...
Upside, you generally do not loose any data or settings.
Downside is that the upgraded system and core files may not like the older settings or apps, causing glitches and/or bugs.
