Just got my new Z30. Beautiful phone. But I have a problem. I currently have the Priv/Passport which use a nano-SIM card. The Z30 has a microSIM slot, so I'm assuming I need to buy a SIM card adapter? I called AT&T and some phone stores about this but none of them were sure if this was possible? One guy said if you put a NANO in a MICRO it could damage the phone? HUH?? What is the point of the adapter then? l only have one line and don't want to create an additional line for this Z30. I want to t switch SIM cards between the phones like I've been doing with the Priv & Passport.

    Any ideas?

An Adapter works fine, just don't get a cheap one because it may get stuck and damage your phone that way.

On my old Z10 I found just putting the nano sim directly in the phone worked absolutely fine!

Also.. if I put the nano sim card in the adapter and into the Z30 I can take it back out and put it back in the Priv correct?

Yes, just pop it out with a small tool that is usually included, MediaDevil seems to be well rated but a have never tried them.

An AT&T sim or any of it's MVNO's will work in an unlocked sta100-5. Not fully as it doesn't have band 17.

Just be CAUTIOUS. I believe the nano and adapter should be removed as ONE unit. Otherwise the adapter can get caught on the phone's connectors in that slot and damage them. There are reports of such damage and it is not a cheap fix.

so you're saying when I remove the SIM card from the Z30 back into the Priv I should remove the adapter as well and not leave it in there?

I suspect that leaving the adapter in the phone might be okay as long as you do NOT try removing it when its empty. But I've no real experience and only recall discussions of "mashed" sim card slots due to some of these adapters. I guess you need to look at the empty slot and look at how the adapter fits/slides/connects to the contact points.

Hopefully, someone else has better info or maybe even links to the other threads and/or pictures of the problems.

*** DO NOT put a sim adapter into a device without the sim card in it! That would almost certainly ruin the sim tray when you try to remove it. I have seen this happen first hand.

As for adapters, I have tried several, this one being my favorite: http://www.amazon.com/Sadapter-Three...UvbUpU12207706

I use it to swap the nano sim from my company iPhone into my Z30 when I get fed up with the iPhone.

BTW, I've revised the thread title for the benefit of those with the same question.

I got a Sim Devil from Amazon and use my nano sim in my Classic, Passport and then my Z30.

As people have said, just make sure you NEVER put the adapter into the Z30 without the sim inside it. Pulling it out will be impossible, and forcing it out will rip out the pins inside your Z30 that are required to read the sim. This happened to me and I had to have my Z30 replaced.

So SIM adapters are great but you DO NOT want to buy a cheap one on a device with a slot loading SIM tray.

The cheap ones are alright for a SIM slot where you just line up the chips like a Z10 or Bold 9900 but may damage a slot loading one like a Z30.

Lol, take some blank or useless sim( normal size) then after with sim cutter cut into micro sim size and then nano size, and your nano to micro sim adaptor ready for BlackBerry z30.
