My employer has started offering free access to WiFi. Is it safe to send and receive emails using the stock email application?

It's exactly that safe or unsafe as if you would use cellular network. But probably you employer can (and does) log the traffic.

Assume your employer will access, read, and use any data against you that is transferred over their network.

I guess that's the crux of my question. Can my personal data even be accessed if my email provider supports SSL encryption?

SSL can Be decrypted by corporations for security reasons ie senzitive data can be transmited to a third party from their own network. So they will intercept, log and decrypt all traffic.

Does this mean it's better to use my cellular data connection instead of my employer's wifi?
