I began a security wipe yesterday at 8:00 am and even today at 9:15 am the phone is only 98% done. How long will this take?

I think the issue with security wipes on Blackberry is that they rewrite over the entire memory with random data... probably a few times. It could be an overkill of the normal people out there... simply erasing the encryption key should be good enough

Don't worry. At first, it might look like it is taking time. Restart it and try. That helps.

Are you saying to turn off device (holding power button) and turn it back on and this will speed up the wiping process? Sounds risky, I thought you weren't suppose to turn device off during a wipe

Looking for advice as my Passport has been wiping for 19 1/2 hrs and is at 98%. Took 10hrs to get from 94% - 98%

If it takes too long, long press the power button till the phone offs. Then power on the phone again, it will wipe normally in no time

Same thing happened to me. I shut the phone off and re-started the wipe. It took approximately 20 minutes the second time.
