It finally happened, after three BlackBerrys, one PlayBook, one Nexus 4, I finally scratched my phones screen, my new Z30! It's minor but took me by surprise as I'm very careful to keep my phone by itself in my left pocket and change and keys in the right pocket. I thought the Z30 used Gorilla Glass, but there are different generation's of GG.

You might be able to get a glass protector and put it over the scratch.... it will either hide it...... or make it show more lol

I know, but like many things in life, it never feels as good as when it's uncovered... I was just, surprised, how easy it scratched, with all the success with past phones never scratching, I was curious what generation Gorilla Glass used on the Z30?

That explains why it scratched. Oh well, I'm still not going to use grossly, over priced screen protector. Just have to be extra careful.

There's cheaper screen protector online which I find does the job. Lasts months.

Same thing happened to me. I have never scratched a phone of mine but the one day I decide to put it in my pocket without the holster, I got a small scratch on my z30.

While I can't see it when the phone is on, I ordered a screen replacement which I haven't installed yet. I also ordered two tempered glass protectors for the HTC one m8 which are supposed to be a close fit. I have one for my one plus one and it doesn't impact the feel of the screen so hopefully it will work out as well for my z30 (as I haven't installed one yet).

Would definitely recommend a case/holster/sleeve to protect the z30 as it doesn't seem the screen is as resilient as the other BlackBerry phones I have used.

Neither the Z30 nor the Z10 have Gorilla Glass.
I accidentally dropped a small Bluetooth mouse on my Z10 from approximately one foot above and the screen shattered into pieces.
My Nexus 4 on the other hand has GG 2 and is spotless after 2 years of my wife's keys and purse.
Except for the Passport, I think most newer BlackBerry devices are of lower quality than most other devices on the market today.
But, it's that BlackBerry 10 OS that keeps me hanging around.

Screen Scratch-img_20150319_223312.jpg I think I paid $18.00 but it's on and it's great even better in the Otterbox commuter no air gaps it's a perfect fit.

I've been looking at these but haven't pulled the trigger because I'm afraid that the edges will stick up due to the curve of the glass around the edges. Even thin film screen protectors often don't lay down around the edge, so I'm thinking that a more rigid one like this would not lay down as well.

Can you please give us your experience about how this lays down (or not) around the edges? Thanks!

Phantom Glass is awesome. I find them to be the best. Another plus is that they're Canadian.

Well, I had GG2 before, twice, and while I'm quite careful with the phones it got scratched within days / weeks. Nothing serious but small scratches - who knows what from but I expected better from GG2. In the end both glasses broke when they felt on hard surface from no more than one meter. :-( There you go.

Yup. They use some kind of silicone bonding. Comes off no problem. Super easy and leaves no residue.

Just keep it naked. Still is the best look and feel in my opinion. I bought my Z30 with a cracked screen, ordered a new display from China for less then 40 bucks. Replacement is a DIY 5 minute job.

So if it scratches badly I'll replace it again.

I installed the iskin tempered glass screen protector on my Z30 and I like. It covers to the silver below the BlackBerry logo and to just below the three openings at the top and about 1/8 inch in from each side. My first screen protector made from glass and won't be my last.
