IF I recall correctly, the proximity sensor is part of the power switch.

Have you tried reloading the OS?

Not yet I will try that today. I was told by a cell shop that the proximity sensor could be cleaned.That doesn't sound right to me

Here's what I found. When I sent the phone in for warranty, it came back good. After 6 months of normal use, falling off the bed and other little things, the sensors quit working. So I decided to pull it apart myself. I noticed that the screws holding onto the screen where loose, not to mention that two of them were totally missing. I believe that because it was not tight, the cable connector for the proximity and light sensors was only partially plugged in. After reconnecting the cable, all is good. Thanks for the helpful replies anyway

Make sure screen protector or distribution isn't covering the sensors.
