Using the latest official OS, Z30
All of the contacts I need are listed, links to Live email address , BBM and PC Sycn.
When I try to set up a group of 4 persons 2 of them are not listed.
Also when I do select a contact I do not get a choice of emails or phone numbers.
Any suggestions appreciated.

My technical level is less than average so please keep it simple

When I set up a contact group of (for example) 4 persons I select New Group, name the group and add the contacts for the group from the Add Contacts icon or menu selection. Both are the same.
Some contacts I can select and add to the group but I do not get a choice of Work, Home, or Mobile phones.
This is one problem but significant.

Some contacts are not available to be added to the group even though they are in the contact list when I open it from the main screen ( not through group setup). Those contacts (not many) just do not appear to be added to the group.

I had groups working before and used it a lot.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

It's the same for me. When I set up a contact group, I can add only "whole" contacts. Not just their numbers.
I think you're thinking about these groups wrong. It's not so much a phone number repertoire as it is say, a bunch of people. Think your facebook friends or twitter followers or "People from the tennis club". You group all those contacts together and then choose how to contact them. I'm not sure how you would go about setting up a list of phone numbers which seems to be what you are looking for. Maybe third party apps?

Found answers to both problems
Contacts linked to Facebook do not show up in selection list for Group Contacts. I.e. When I select the Add Contact to set up a group, anyone linked to Facebook is not shown. Easy solution.just eliminate the link.
Also, after you set up the group select the name you use for the contact group you just set up.
Long press each contact AND select the phone number or email you want to use and voila.

One suggestion.
As part of the group name I include the type.
For example
Friends cell
Friends email
Always goes to the right person and the right route
