The dates you are looking at is when the phone was packaged by BB, not when the phone itself was produced. It is very, very common in the manufacturing business to make a big initial run of inventory and then sell that inventory over a much longer period of time, as tooling up a production line takes time and costs a lot of money - in order to get economies of scale, you need to maximize the production line and retool as little as possible.

Exactly. All Z30s are somewhere in stock, manufactured long time ago. BlackBerry is making some money on $225 price, but very little. It's more like a liquidation sale. iPhone 5 costs about $190 to manufacture, but in 10+ million copies. Z30 cost is probably close to this number, if not more. Lower cost materials (plastic vs metal), but much smaller batch too.

AFAIK, there isn't much stock left and they aren't producing them anymore so why would they last long at that price? The one I bought in Dec has a June 2014 production date. I don't know any dates after that. If you have a Z30 and bought it recently, put the date on the box here.

I was a lil upset that they were sold out of the black z30 for this sale again, but i said screw it and bought a white one anyway, a few hours after that, i found/bought a black otterbox commuter case for it. I was looking for a defender case, but apparently those are just as sparce as getting a black z30 on sale,lol. I'm just happy that i'll have my new z30 before the new year.
