Z10's plastic. It's just nicer plastic. The Z30 is actually fairly well built (compared to the Z10). The black version has the Q10 like backing that gives it the premium feel. I don't think it's cheap at all...

i remember when my playbook came in the mail, it was the first time i had seen the packaging, and i was SO impressed. i was happy to see such great packaging on a blackberry product. and of course the product itself was amazing too. still use it to this day

I think the black plastic holds up better than the silver paint. From my scratch I'd say the black plastic is black all the way through and the silver is a thin layer on top of black.

For some reason my Z10 reminds me more of the PlayBook as far as heavy duty. The Z30 feels more fragile to me.

But I'm still happy with the bigger screen and Miracast.

I'd rather have cheap packaging than a cheap build quality for the phone. IPhones are notoriously fragile. BBs are not.
