Remember the 9860 with the touchscreen design but still had a tool belt?
If BlackBerry has gone through the trouble of making changes to the OS to accommodate the tool belt, why not put it back on an all touch device as well?
It would not make the phone much larger, if any at all. It would give BlackBerry another way to differentiate even with a widescreen touch device.

The same reason they don't have a toolbelt on the passport, it's actually not that useful.

At this point, never say never with the new BlackBerry. Who knows what devices will return or get scrapped.

Even on the 9860 I didn't use the tool belt for anything except calls.

    Long touch launched all menus.

BlackBerry could have made capacitive onscreen buttons: two for calls and one in middle for back.

    Rant:

    1. No one left BlackBerry and switched to iOS, Android and WP because BB10 didn't have tool belt.

    2. No one demands a tool belt on above/ other platforms.

    3. On BB10, why would one literally keep hopping one's thumb around the screen and tool belt when you can swipe at the damn thing.

    End of Rant

I hear you. It's a thing of the past.

That's why the only device that includes it is called classic and is underspecd.

I agree. I thought the 9860 was a good all touch bbos 7 device.

I'd much rather see this to satisfy everyone once and for all. Advantage of this is its a software update and can be put on ALL devices.

Plus we've seen it work in a very primitive form in the app called "Trackpad Editor".

Using a trackpad for OS navigation defeats the entire purpose of BB10's gesture based system and a touchscreen for that matter. For the browser application maybe change it to be more in line with origami browser on the PlayBook. For editing text and things of that nature a properly coded virtual trackpad can be sufficient.

Right. The entire reason for the trackball/trackpad is that touch screens didn't exist yet. The classic is there to migrate the remnants from 7 to 10, that is all. I would imagine that once they finally use 10 they will be kicking themselves for not buying a passport.

What about all of the people like me that have been using a z10 or q10 all along but still miss the tool belt?

I could go for a z10 with a tool belt and a "sticky" keyboard. One that would always be on until I turned it off for a video etc.

It isn't just the feel of a PKB, it's also more efficient to have one always available for searching and for shortcuts.
