i did a security wipe of my bb z30 yesterday. now it is stuck at 98% after more than 24 hours of starting the wipe process. i went through so many forums to encounter this situation and everywhere it is advised to pull out battery to interrupt wiping process and reload the os through link. but mine z30 has non removable battery so what is the best way to interrupt the ongoing wiping process. pls do refer me some alternative ways to reboot my device.

Your best bet is to reload the OS using an autoloader....

I'm not a fan of interrupting the process but 24 hours is a long time. Did you leave a large filled-up flash memory card in the phone when you started the wipe process? If you have a lot of data stored on the device/card the wipe process will take longer.

If you really want to interrupt it, you could either disassemble it, or just unplug it and let the battery drain.

But if I were in your shoes, honestly, I'd let it sit for another day while plugged into a charger, rather than risk bricking it.

But I'm pretty conservative about this kind of thing.

In another thread, someone suggested Sachesi (available in the OS Leak subforum) can force a reboot.

You can try the two button method

    Try a restart:

Press and HOLD both Vol Up/Down buttons. Keep holding while the screen goes fully black (ignore the screenshot), keep holding through the Black/White logo and when the Colored Logo shows up, release those buttons.

If you have a Z10: If you have the STL100-1 variant the volume button reset method doesn't work. In that case, Press and HOLD the Power On Button until you see the LOGO as above

Use an autoloader or open link and plug the phone in, go to preferences, restore to factory. I did the latter when my Z30 was stuck on the wipe. It rebooted my phone which of course restarted the wipe but then the wipe finished in 10 to 15 minutes.

There was another guy a while back. I think it took 3-4 days. It took 1 day to go 99-100%.

now stuck on 99% from morning. still positive to complete wiping process on its own in next few hours. if that does not happen i will incorporate one of the above methods mentioned by my friends. will update as soon as process completes on its own. i am ready to give one day more.

You don't have to do anything especial just turn off the phone push power button 10 second until turn off, the phone will restart automatically and the process will start again but this time only will take 20 minutes trust me

DaleLocooo: I hope you are right. I started my wipe yesterday and it has been moving 1% every 3-4 hours since 92%. Now stuck on 98% for 5 hours. I have a post it on the screen to see if the indicator is moving. I think it is. My phone has been wiping for about 25 or 26 hours and I am getting sick of my bold 9900 not working right (haven't used it in over a year) so I took your advice and re-booted.
It is moving fast. Let's see if it works.

Worked! Took about 20 minutes. Now will reload software and restore next. I will insert my sim card back before the restore. I hope that fixes my VVM!

So apparently restoring to factory settings is the same as a wipe! I started another wipe again!

I had this same issue with my passport. Hard reboot starts the process all over again. I was able to flash with an autoloader successfully but 2 months down the road i had to wipe again and ran into the same issue. It was stuck at 99% for 2 weeks.

End result was a device replacement under warranty.

I purchased my Z30 from Blackberry directly early last November so it is less than a year. How long is the warranty? Would they replace with a new device or refurbished? Thank you.

The only reason I see to ever wipe is if you're going to sell it. If you want to just start from scratch just use an autoloader.

It should be one year. I don't know if they would send a reburb or a new unit. Call.

It's a refurb but it will look brand new.

My Z30 came out of coma 2 days back. Working fine now. Nothing happened after 99%. So all I did was connected it to link and reloaded the software as mentioned in one of the post above by my friend . Took only 15-20 min to reboot. Thanks to all my friends for their instant reply.
