I finally received my VZW Z30 on Thursday after a huge snafu with ordering.

Migrating from my Z10 was incredibly smooth. I did not have a leaked O/S so that may have made it easier.

Everything imported correctly, and all my icon placements were the same as well.

Now my first impression was how huge the screen is. I kind of liked the square edges of the Z10 as it made it easier to grip as I do not use a case.

I really miss the textured back of the Z10 vs the smooth Z30. I would love a back with that material.

Overall impression is very positive. Definitely much faster. I would frequently have a delay in my Z10 when loading settings. Not any more. Also, Typing is sooooo much easier with the larger screen. I really never enjoyed typing on the Z10 compared to my 9930.

Battery life seems much better as well. I have not used a full charge yet to really see how long it lasts.

I haven't owned a Z10 but have a good bit of time on a couple at work and agree with your assessments except for the backs. I actually like the back material of the Z30 as it has a nice grippy, secure feel to it, although no texture as the Z10 has.

After living with the Z30 for almost 2 weeks now, I can say the battery life is excellent. I also find the speed, reliability and overall size much improved over the Z10. I hope more Blackberry and other users get exposure to the Z30.

I also agree. I've had my Z30 since the day after they went on sale from Verizon.

Battery life has been great, the larger screen is nice and it does seem faster than the z10. Although that could be because it is running 10.2.

The faster settings menu is more a feature of OS 10.2. Its been updated to a proper cascades app

Z30 is great but something keeps drawing me back to the z10. Its freaking awesome for one handed use. My z30 is ok with one hand but there is a slight strain after long use.

I agree. I've found it not a problem to type one handed with the Z30 but definitely easier with the Z10 and Q10. FWIW the one handed typing difference is not enough to dissuade me from the Z30.

I think my issue will be resolved when my case comes. The z30 feels a bit more slippery. Regardless, like playing guitar, one handed bridging gets easier with time.

It's not as easy as z10 but it's doable.

So is the back like the Q10? I thought the Q10 was slick and do like the grippy feel of my Z10.

It's my third week with Z30 over Z10. Sound quality has been really remarkable difference and after 10.2.1.1055, FM radio is another unexpected addition.

I use the application called tunein for radio. It is excellent and used it with my new Bose Soundlink Mobile II. For financial types there is also an app that mirrors the HP12C financial calculator. And it works and looks just the original including operating in reverse polish notation. Very cool.

Yea but tuneIN isnt REALLY radio.
For instance, I dont get any of the local sports broadcasts, nor do I get the local talent on our ESPN affiliate, only the national ESPN content (Cowherd... blech)

I get the full local bandwidth of FM/AM radio and a channel called Amateur Radio - Emergency Service on the FM band. I also get some local college and community radio via Internet.

Quick question about handset sound volume and call quality.
I've looked at a Z30 at the local VZ store and play with it for about 30 minutes.
I will be upgrading from a bb 9930.
I've made several calls using the speaker phone and regular phone handset and the sound volume seems very low, much lower when compare to my bb 9930.
I've adjusted the volume settings on the main settings and phone volume settings as well and sound is still kind of low.
Have you experience any problems with low sound in a phone call conversation ?
I like the feel of the Z30 but the low sound in a phone conversation it's a big concern.
Anyone can confirm if this is a hardware problem or a future software update fix will solve it ?

Maybe I am lucky or just haven't had to be on a call in a loud area. But I haven't noticed any issue with volume on calls.

If you want even more battery life, use a complete black background wallpaper (and dark theme on the apps that have it) .

Z30, and yes, it's a bit on the heavy side..., but the Carbonate case is Killer!

Starting out Day 2 with my new Z30. Upgraded from an iPhone 5 and I couldn't go back now. There are so many things I love about this phone!

It's my first BB10 device, and features like the Hub, Peek, Active Frames, and keyboard have been a breath of fresh air. Even the little things like LED indicator and a "phone calls only" notification setting really make a huge difference for me.

I can attest to the external speaker quality. They're the best I've heard on any smartphone.

    And dat screen!!
