Can anyone make any recommendations on a 2nd display that would best complement to the Z30?
    Some criteria to consider:
    • Miracast enabled
    • Portable: 10" plus tablet?
    • Can an Android tablet be used as a second screen?
    • Touched enabled?
    • A smart TV?

My laptop has been collecting dust as the Z30 meets almost all my computing/communication needs... Despite the 5" screen a second display would provide much relief to my declining vision...

If it's a touch screen, it will operate as if it's a non-touch display.

I don't believe touch gestures are supported over Miracast or HDMI - at least not with the Z30.

I was all set to recommend a clearance-sale television, until you mentioned portability. How portable does it need to be? Would a 20" flat panel TV do the trick?

Small computer monitors can be had for cheap, but I'm not sure if any computer monitors do Miracast. In larger sizes, televisions would be much cheaper than a computer monitor because you don't require higher than 720p, or even 1080p to accommodate for the next phone. My current Q10 is connected to a 40" LED TV that I got for $279 on a sale. You could probably score a TV in the 20-29" range for not much over $100 if you check clearance sales. You should be able to find one that's cheap and supports Miracast.

You can also buy MiraCast adaptor dongles if need be, but I don't know how much they cost. I'm guessing about $50.

I did buy the Net gear Push2TV PTV-3000 o line from Dell. It is on sale now for $64. Received it today and it works perfectly. Thank you for the advice.

OP, you're not the only one looking for this. I've spent an hour this morning looking for a 10" battery powered monitor with build-in Miracast. I don't care about touch screen myself although, if it emulated a keyboard and mouse using Bluetooth, that would make it much more interesting.

So far I've not found one. It occurs to me if the tiny world of Z30 owners had 2 people looking for this, the massive world of android users must have thousands looking for it. I'm sure China, Inc. is listening so, it shouldn't be long.

I'm concerned Miracast doesn't seem secured for only a specific device or group of devices. If you pulled out a Miracast monitor in a crowd, it's possible someone could attach to your monitor before you do. I don't see any way to stop that. There are other potential security concerns as well, but they are more esoteric. This is where NFC can help. I'd like to see BlackBerry use NFC to turn on and establish a connection with a Miracast device when you bump the phone to the device. Of course this should be optional so you don't have to bump if you don't want to.

Oh one more thing BlackBerry, give us the option to not send audio out Miracast like you do with HDMI. Thanks.

In another thread about a possible PlayBook 2 JMD08 captured exactly what I was looking for...
"I think they should make a playbook 2? just with another name maybe.

They should make is really inexpensive and essentially just a larger mirrorcast screen with touch capabilities. It will then have to connect to you BB10 phone. From there all your secure data runs through the phone, your apps will run right off your phone etc. Like BB bridge on steroids.

This is where BB is taking mobile computing."
