Hi everyone

I'm trying to get my Z30 working with a holster but I'm having a hard time finding a powerful enough magnet that is also thin enough to fit between the phone and the holster.

All the thin magnets I tried would not turn off/on the screen. I found a powerful ceramic magnet that works but it is too thick to fit anywhere in the holster.

Can the sensor in the phone be recalibrated to work with a less powerful magnet?

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Most of the thin magnets you buy do not seem to be polarity specific. I know that sounds weird, but I tried a few years back to create a magnetic stand for a moto Defy and the thin, tape-like magnets were useless. Doesn't BBerry make a magnet holster for the Z30?

See if anyone's selling a cosmetically poor /damaged magnetic holster cheaply on the auction sites and extract the magnet from it?

On the streets of NYC there are street vendors and they sell cheap ($3) phone cases made by a company called "Reiko" that have magnetic flaps. I have purchased three of these and simply cut off the flap, dissected that magnet out (which is exceedingly thin) and everyone of them has been strong enough to auto shut the Z30. I get a piece of the fluffy side of a stick on velcro so that the magnet does to scratch the phone back and very carefully placed the magnet right where the silver BB symbol is on the back of the phone. I have made three different "cases" like this and they work perfectly.

Doesn't BBerry make a magnet holster for the Z30?

They do but I didn't like it, so I bought a band style case and a seidio holster that was made for the Samsung galaxy s5.

I had an old blackberry 9650 case laying around. Opened it up used that magnet. Works great. I would say pick up an old BB holster on ebay, you can get them really cheap.

it worked!!

I pulled the magnet out of my old storm holster and peeled the felt up from my new holster and was able to stick it under there and it works great!!

I don't know why I didn't think of this myself...
