    4G IS LTE.

Some carriers/locations change the lables but you have nothing to worry about.

This is incorrect. LTE stands for "long term evolution" which is an advanced version of LTE. With 4G you can get around 5-10mbps but with LTE you can get 30-50mbps.

You probably don't have the LTE option because you have an STL100-1 model which is the 4G version.

You can confirm this by posting "myver" with a space after it.

I'm thinking his sim card might not support LTE. I didn't notice he had a z30 so I believe all models are LTE.

Is the sim card new? If it's an older sim card it might only support up to 4G.

If it's new, I can only think that your telecom company doesn't support LTE yet. Try putting in someone else's sim card that has LTE and see if you can enable it on theirs. If so then you can confirm it is your sim.

Hmm. Strange. Try calling your carrier and asking if they support LTE on the z30?

There's no enabling and disabling on BlackBerry that I know of. That setting that you took a screenshot of is the only one.

DU has LTE on 1800 MHz band 3 so it should work however bear in mind this from the DU website:
Please make sure you’re in an LTE coverage area. LTE Network speeds may vary depending on your location and coverage availability. You have to be on the 25 GB bundle to enjoy our LTE network speeds of up to 100 Mbps.

No, he was wright, in some countries LTE is labeled 4G, as in France. I have a 4G plan and I can easily get 70mbps with my z30...

It might be labeled it, but you are running on LTE. 4G has a maximum theoretical throughput of 12mbps, there's no way you're getting 70 on 4G.

You're talking about HSPA+ (with speeds of up to 21Mbps) which falls under the 3G term. LTE is 4G.

Your cell provider says you need to be on their 25gb plan in order to get LTE, but you mentioned you are only on their 4gb plan.

Here in France 3G (HSPA+) has a max theoretical throughput of 42mbps thanks to DualCarrier technology, "our" 4G is the LTE one and has a max theoretical throughput of 150mbps.
I'm sure that the OP's 4G is LTE, the name changes depending on the country or depending on the marketing names given by the carriers

On a LTE compatible BlackBerry 10 device, 4G IS LTE. In some places, the carrier may list it as "4G", while others use "LTE". Some even do "4G LTE", but if you loot at the settings, they will ALL list on the same spot.

    So no. It's not incorrect.

I was pretty much sure that you can have lte for 1gb plans and above as mentioned by their sms. I have sent an email to them inquiring the same hoping for activation if needed. I believe that i am only on 4g not lte as i have tried speedtest and i only got 5mbps.

And this would be where I become thankful that my carrier of choice doesn't lable things in terms of which generation technology they are, but instead as just what the technology is...

    LTE question-img_20140507_165545_edit.png

To confirm a few things for people, 4G can refer to both HSPA+ and LTE. If you recall, there was the debate a few years back when T-Mobile was billing their HSPA+ network as 4G and Verizon was launching LTE and calling it 4G. We started to coin the phrase "Faux G" (french for fake if anyone wondered). It still falls under the true bracket of 3G because the technology did not really change... to what I know anyway.
