Maybe they've been broken since I bought the phone. I only know now because of running a bunch of diagnostics.

Why is my old 9810 from 2011 running like a tank but I had a Z10 that couldn't make 2 years. And this phone is only at 9 months?

I've done hard reset. I'm out of ideas. But like I said I don't remember the screen brightness ever changing by itself. And I don't remember the screen ever going black when I make a call.

Insurance or warranty? If they really were broken since purchase you should be able to get some better resolution.

Oh, what kind of screen protector? Some of the glass ones or ones that cover the very top (camera/sensor area) block them from working.
