So I encrypted only the device the other day, now my music player is spotty at best, only playing every other file or not at all. The same happens in neutron player. Yet from the file manager all files work perfectly.

As well my incoming phone calls are either not being displayed and no audio or vibrating, or only visual call screen comes up with no audio alert.

Has anyone else experienced anything as a result of encryption?

Update: the new version of sayit seems to be part of the issue as it runs headless and opens the app when the play button is pushed. Deleting sayit and rebooting device.

Update: after removing sayit all seems to be well. As they use the same button for operation, I suspect the crosstalk of both applications trying to use one button simultaneously is what caused the issue. If anyone can confirm this it would be appreciated!

Just open up Say It, and turn off Backgrond mode in setting.

Now having a relayed issue that started the problem, when switching to the next song in music player it skips every second song, yet if I select the one before it it jumps to the song I originally intended to play....

    Issues since encrypting my z30-img_00000453.png

It may be related to the bg file as when I tap and hold I get no options on the sidebar. Did a search from the home screen for the file and it does show up in search results, yet tap and hold yields the same result. So then I searched through the file manager for this file and returned no results. I'm not sure what to do from here.

This the exact same folder, shown through the active player. The bg file does not show up. Also tried a search using my computer and it does not show up either. This seems to be a ghost file residing within the music app itself??? I need to get rid of this!

    Issues since encrypting my z30-img_00000455.png

Managed to get properties for the file, here it is. Using delete button in this menu yielded no result. File made in 1969???? And I also did a virus scan just in case which came up clean.

Illlya, on another note I forgot but I had tried that and every time I reopened the app the background setting was switched on again, tried numerous times.

Your file looks like that because it's protected by encryption. To verify you can specifically look at the file name, it will have .rem on the end. Try sending the file to a contact, it should show the complete file name. You can also look at it on a PC, I'm not sure about a MAC.

It was not there before encryption. I did a pc search it returned no result. Searching through blackberry file manager no result. The file only resides within the music app and from the details you can see it has no real filename or extension. There were originally two files of this type with different audio lengths but I was only able to delete one.

Also I do not get any file menu options to send the file through any means at all.

    Did you turn encryption off?

No I'm hoping to resolve the issue without having to turn it off. It happened a day after and I'm not 100% sure but the file I successfully deleted seemed to be a blank recording, I thought I could hear my furnace in the background. I use parrot for voice notes.

I'm not sure you'll be able to get around turning it off, but good luck. I'm outta ideas.

Me too I've never seen this happen in an operating system before.

I'll wait until the next update maybe that will help

If you're going to wait until the next update, you definitely want to turn it off. If you wipe your phone, you will lose the encryption key and your files will be trashed forever. I can't remember if you said you have files on your media card, but if you have any files you plan to save from your device memory, yes turn off the encryption. Also as a note, it takes longer to decrypt files than it does to encrypt them.

I keep the memory card unencrypted and always transfer my phone files to the card. Should I still turn off encryption then?

No, you're just fine going that route.
