I've owned several blackberries (9500, 9800, 9360, etc.) and I've been delighted with the simbiotic environment they do with the playbook.
Now I'm thinking on buying a Z30 but I'm afraid that the new Berry won't bridge with my playbook.
Have any of you tried to bridge a Z10 or Z30 with a playbook?
Is it possible? Is it as easy as it was with the BBOS 7.1?
    Thanks.

    Does it bridge? Yes.
Will you have all the bridge functions you did on BBOS7? No- most of the bridge functions were not ported over, but arguably with a z30 you have a scaled down PlayBook in a z30 that can do more much better anyways.

Only BBM, Texts, still sends data to PlayBook through blue tooth and remote control from Z30. No longer can I see files from one device to another, open on PlayBook is extremely hard to find and use. No emails or call alerts on phone shown on PlayBook as used to on OS7... rarely use bridge now, only remote when I want to connect PlayBook to a TV (rarely).

Still it's true a Z10/30 will anyways have so much functionality that you will end up using your PlayBook less and less.

Depends on the person, I know people bridging their 30 with a playbook on a daily basis. I bridge my Q10 every night. As well as my music gateway!

You probably won't touch your PlayBook once you get the Z30.

Stopped using my PlayBook as well. Z30 is faster, has better battery life and is more convenient.

I have both and still use my PlayBook for file storage, as a bedside clock as well as playing videos via Kalemsoft Media Player from my home network, whether I'm home or away. I sill love my PlayBook as much as always.

Thanks. I've been assuming that was the case. And I've been guessing that such would still be very useful for me, even though the browsing on the Z30 by itself seems to be very effective, diminishing the need for the PB.

The bigger screen is better for these eyes, methinks.

It's difficult for me to go back to using the pb after getting used to bb10.

The pb os is so clunky, slow, and dated compared to bb10.

Can easily see you using the Z30 to replace the pb, since it has for me loll.

Bridge has been getting updates. But there's no guarantee they will ever bring it up to par with the bb os version. Right now you basically have bbm, text messages and remote control through bluetooth.

Like some people have said though, since upgrading to bb10 I have found I don't need the PlayBook as much, especially since I got the z30. The only things I use it for now are the drawing and music creation apps, and for reading documents. The bb10 browser is far far superior, even compared to origami, in my opinion. The ui is better too, but I wish you could swipe sideways between apps like on the pb

Before the switch to my Z30 I would use my iPad in the evenings (mainly because of the larger screen), since the switch I rarely use my iPad, much prefer the Z30.

I have a 30 and a PlayBook. The PlayBook is getting used less and less. When I go to a meeting I take both the only time I use the PlayBook is when we need to look at 2 screens at the same time. I had a 10 before and the play book was the horse at the meeting. The bigger screen on the 30 makes all the difference for me.

You'll get the Z30 and never touch your PlayBook again because the tablet will seem a lot slower. I've even learned how to tolerate videos on my small Q10 screen because it's so much faster than my PlayBook and the browser never crashes.

But if you do need to use your tablet, yes, the Z30 can pair with it, but some of the functionality of BlackBerry Bridge on BBOS is gone on BB10.

I agree with the last post. I use PlayBook for movies during air travel. But, watched Hansel & Gretel on a flight to TO on my z30 and it was fine. Much clearer than the airline video of course and great audio with noise-cancelling buds.

    @OP,
once you move to a Z30, your playbook will become second rate unless you have a compulsory need to view stuff on a 7' tablet
...the playbook is dual core 1Ghz processor and 1GB RAM...Z30 is dual core 1.7GHZ and 2GB RAM....there are way more apps available to the Z30 compared to the PB...you most def wont miss your PB after the upgrade cos you'll be too busy getting into the BB10 groove
