Definitely agree with you, its nice having that option at least. If people dont want to use it then bloody well dont.

Stop telling us that what you think is what everyone else wants

I don't think it's clueless but may be desperate. If the devs are not putting their apps in BBWORLD I guess at least people can still get them.

I just think all apps will need to work as intended or it really isn't going to help much.

What choice do they have? This is an instant way to fill the app gap. Makes all the sense in the world. You need to take away the critics bullets, this is one way to do this ....... they need to make sure that it is easy and intuitive to get ask files as well so the non techys can use this feature.

Gives BlackBerry and their developers time to develop natively.

    Nice necropost.

How do you define "massive" ?

Frankly, not updating the Runtime beyond v4.3 is effectively removing it. How many major apps in a year will still be available for Jellybean?

As I already said, BlackBerry will effectively "remove" it by not updating it.

Besides, there is nothing in the Terms of Service guaranteeing a particular OS feature an any platform. Features come and go all the time.

Eh, if they don't update it, I don't see how a lawsuit will hold water. That same reasoning would put almost any company that discontinues support of a particular software feature/functionality at risk for litigation (Flash, anyone?) Especially if BlackBerry no longer sells BB10 devices with advertising for Android app support.

Ideally, they should put out a press release with the upcoming change and probably do their best to notify customers. But even if they fail to do this, which is a strong possibility given BlackBerry's track record, I still don't see them being held liable.

At the moment by abandoning the runtime they must either have something up their sleeves to get more native apps quickly or its the subtle way of blackberry admitting the death of bb10

Lawsuit based upon suitability for the intended use the claimed function. For this they would need to be guilty of removing or crippling the runtime to the betterment of BlackBerry while failure to update the runtime would go to the warranty which extends to two years in most of the EU & much of the wider world.

But the question is why do we need apks? In BlackBerry the goodness of features is nullified by absence of important apps like - offline maps, Uber, banks or other important apps. Thus, BlackBerry have created the need to keep one more phone for above apps.
