download to your PC, unzip to your PC, cable your phone to the PC, close Link and click the exe.

I'd think it would be easier to just use BlackBerry Link and hit reload software, but maybe I missed something.

If you reload software using Link it wipes everything and reinstalls the OS. If I remember correctly it says something like if you are having trouble with your device click here to reload software.

Just to wipe the phone: couldn't that be achieved directly from the phone by clicking security wipe? I've wiped phones and started fresh a few times and that's all I would do is a security wipe.

Yup, very hard to mess anything up reloading the software from BlackBerry Link!
