I got the 2 year contract discount on a Z10 about 3-4 months ago, but I want to see if I can get an early upgrade to a Z30 at the "regular" contract discount rate. Any hope? Anyone try this and succeed? Note I never had VZW service before this, so I doubt customer retention techniques would fly. I am locked in. Thanks

$10 monthly for another line and get the discount on the new phone? Still out $120 a year though.

OK, so the concensus is, add a line, they will still honor the contract discount, but I need to pay another (at least) $50/mo more? Is that accurate?

Could always just buy it full price. You would save $40.00 to $50.00 per month. That figure is derived from the add a line for a contract term. You could even recoup some of the cost by selling the Z10.

My Z10 I sold I called Rogers asked how much is my pay off for the phone what I owe and to keep my contract and upgrade Z10 was $200 and I would have to pay 99 for the Z30. 2 days and new Z30 in my hand definitely worth the 99

I saved about $600 by buying my Z30 outright, instead of adding a line and getting the discounted price. Paying $549 + tax to me is better than $199 (at the time of purchase) + 960 +taxes ($40 per month for 2 years) = $1159.
And I'm now on month to month, no ETF!

Thanks for the feedback. As an update, I went to the VZW store and asked about adding a line. They said $199. The $99 was online only. They offered to honor the online price, but only if a bought an accessory bundle and something else that added up to basically $99. I declined to say the least. I went home, got online, and ordered it for $99 +$40 line fee. I should have it by Wednesday. Woo hoo! I plan on test driving it for a week. If I keep it I will kill the second line, keep the Z30 active, and use the Z10 as a wifi only device. If nothing else, I get to play with a Z30 for two weeks for just a partial monthly charge and the cost of tax on the $99. Not a bad deal either way. I'm excited and can't wait to open the box on Wednesday!

Oh, and I did check it out at the store in demo mode. The screen size at first glance didn't seem much bigger when I held them up side by side, but the superior hardware, miracast, better speakers, and wireless charging are compelling for the upgrade. In demo mode the screen was dimmer and not as vibrant, but I'm sure it wasn't at full brightness. But I did like the more rounded look and feel of the device. I will follow up after I play with it for a day or two

Just wanted to check in to let everyone know I got it today! So excited! I'm just now getting to testing it in depth but so far I really like the curved edges, and it's strange getting used to the screen size coming from a Z10. And, it is different extending my fingers further out when in one handed mode. But, Whooo hoooo!

Yes, yes, yes...BUT...could done it differently! it takes a small requirement and a willingness to somewhat lie. the requirement is you would need to still own a legacy 3g device. Nonetheless congrats in your device!

Verizon doesn't advertise it but they have what's called the, "Ineligibility Device Upgrade Program". Basically, they will give anyone with a 3g phone currently activated a $300 voucher/coupon off the 4G device of their choice if they sign another 2 year contract.

So you would downgrade your Z10 to 3g device and then sit tight for a day or two. Then call Verizon and mention the program and they'll oblige. They want to convert as many 3g's to 4G as possible. So you basically get $300 off the Z30 so you'll get it for $249.99 and can hang on to your Z10 or sell it or do whatever.

So question is, is this fraud? You'd think it would be, but the truth is you meet the requirements for the program the minute you activate the 3g device. It doesn't matter that you downgraded from 4G to it. All that matters is at the time if new Z30 purchase you had a 3g and thus qualify for the $300 off.

I'm a employee and this is not true you must also satisfy other criteria to be eligible and unfortunately I can't disclose. The best thing to do in your case is to ask for the device payment plan. No contract and they split the cost of the phone up over 12 months on your bill. There is like a 2% finance fee. So you would pay like 48 dollars per month for the device for a year and still be eligible to upgrade to the Z80 20 months from now =)

...just walk-in to your nearest,...Verizon store,...sign in,...and wait your turn. Once they call your name,...when you get to the service counter,...just ask in a clear and polite voice! Be'otch! How can I get a freak'n upgrade to a Z30? I don't wanna pay jack in fees, so please tell me how can you make this happen for me,...Today?

    There,...that should do it.

Now, if you she looks at you and a smile grows on her face, you'll be walking out with a new Z30. If she leans her shoulders back,..you may want to duck, ..because she may be about to slap the crap outta ya!

Nice. Anyways, slowly got the Z30 mirrored to the configuration of the Z10 and I'm ready to make the switch to the 30 as my primary. I'm keeping it unless it glitches in the next few days. Thanks everybody.

Add the line but then switch the z30 to your primary line and find an old flip phone with no data for the new line. $10 a month but to me worth it for the upgrade.

So basically you paid $99 for the phone and $40 to add another line and if you cancel the other line you got 4 months ago your ETF is $310. So in actuality you paid $450 for the device.

If you keep the extra line you paid $40 (plus tax) X 24 months, plus $99 for the phone so $980.

Also if you return the Z30 you get charged a restock fee of $35 and 14 days of service $1.33 per day X 14 days $18.62. Sales tax is refunded when you return the device. So $53.62 to "play" with a phone. It gets sent back to BlackBerry and now your hurting BlackBerry's return rate =(

You could save $100 by starting a new line and immediately canceling it. Phone is $99 plus $350 cancellation. That's $450.

Question about the device payment plan. I'm almost at the 1 year mark for my Q10 contract. Can I get a Z30 off-contract under this plan?
