    My contact last names are not filed under the appropriate Index letter.
    ie: a last name with starts with M is not under the index letter M but is located under the index letter P.
    So more less last names are not be organized into the right index letter in the contact app.

    You can have Contacts sorted/shown by first or last name. Check out the various settings.
