I have a lunatic calling me down daily. Does anyone have any suggestions on an app to block a single call or 3 party apps they can suggest that actually work on a BlackBerry.

    Thanks

Instead of paying for an app just customise his/her ringtone by reducing the volume to 0. Did that already.

To add, most carriers will block X amount of numbers for you.

If your on 10.3.0 or higher, third party call blocking apps will work.
If your carrier hasn't blocked it, there is a simple default Call Blocking function on all BB10 devices, check your Phone Settings:
    • Within the Phone app, swiped down from the top and choose Settings.
    • If your carrier hasn't disabled or hidden the function, you will see Call Blocking lit up in the Settings list.

If the caller is truly a lunatic, you may want to get law enforcement involved.

I do have call blocking but this feature once activated blocks ALL incoming calls and is not phone number specific.

Can someone please explain how to personalize volume ringer level on a contact?

I'm able to get to the phone set up and I have everything on off but still getting the same audible ring on my phone.

    See attached.

I'm still running 10.2.1 and I made a 20 second silent file with the Parrot recording app. I saved it to my music in a ringtones file I set up. I assigned the number to a contact named "Ignore", and you can add as many numbers as needed if other unwanted numbers pop up later on. Works for me.

On 10.3.1, different screen, it works, no alert whatsoever, just a missed call notice.

On 10.3.1 there are numerous call blocking apps for free so you may also want to check out BlackBerry World

Power Tools in BB World, the call blocking features are only supported for 10.3.1x, not for 10.2.1.

    Work great.

What I did when I was getting repetitive calls on my 10.2.1 verizon Z30, is save the number to a contact that I named block. In the notifications part of settings, I customized the contact so the ringer is off. Or you can set up parental controls to only allow calls from contacts. Since I work nights I do that during the day while I'm sleeping. Fortunately all my contacts know I work nights and they don't call me during the day.

This works as long as the caller is not masking their number, or each time they call a different number is shown. There are software programs designed for telemarketers (worse scum of telephone technology users) that can mask their phone number. They can make every call look like it is from a different number. Many of the huge calling centers are using systems where each time they call out a different number shows. Spam mail systems also work this way.

What we need is an AI (Artificial Intelligence) system in our phone so it can pre-screen the type of call before admitting it to the user. This way the phone itself will be really smart and know if it is a telemarketer or a legitimate call...

That is also how it works for me on 10.2.1
Add the number as a contact.
    Name it DO NOT ANSWER
Turn ringtone off for the contact.

Next telemarketer calls, just add them to the DO NOT ANSWER CONTACT. Works but I will pay 20 bucks for a number specific block app on the new OS.

instead of getting an app, just use the parental controls in the security settings. turn it on, set a password, then select only accept calls from contacts. this is how i have mine set up.
