    hey guys,

my Z30 has been acting up lately ever since I updated to the newest BBM (with stickers).

In approximately 4 hours, my phone has went from 100% battery to 30%. I'm at work so I've been barely using it. Checked my app monitor and everything looked normal except text messaging. It showed 51% battery drain!!

I am sure something is wrong with this. I haven't texted much within this 4 hours since I'm at work. any idea what I could do to fix this? I just started happening since i updated to Verizon's latest software.

    thanks for the help!

Have you tried to reset your device that may help or if you don't want to have lose all of your saved data then try a hard restart for your device

yeah my battery usage was from text messages and it was 51% !! I didn't even text that much in the 4 hours. how does it go from 100% batt to 30% in 4 hours with so little usage!

BB10 is proving to be one unstable OS for me....sigh

Have you tried a hard reboot?

I have it also. Seems the only fix is a security wipe and reinstall.

I've done the reboot and the issue comes back.

Download BlackBerry link, backup everything. Use an autoloader of the latest OS (might as well) complete initial setup then use link again to restore.

Its simple but may take a while depending on how much stuff you have in your phone.

OP - what is the OS version/software/build? I would've thought that would be the first question from folks here...

I've noticed sudden drains for both my Q10 & Z30.... one for PIM and the other was BBM

Both phones are on 10.2.1.1925, and both are getting update notifications for 2102, approx size being 39 MB

does anyone know if the update 2102 improves battery performance or fixes a bug the relates to this sudden drain?

    thanks.

guys, there is nothing wrong with your phone. it may takes 48 hours for your phone to settle down. do a couple of reboot and just wait 48 hours. all will be good.

Sorry I disagree. My os is official 2102 , it's been on my phone for about 1 month and I have constant issues with battery drain. There clearly is a bug. BlackBerry just need to locate it and stop it.

Ok ok, I'm also using 2102, and there is an awful battery drain.

I mean, I bought the Z30 for its praised battery life, but my Q10 (which is using the -2102) has a much better battery life under the same working conditions: 4G on all day, brightness on 50% and only one email account (outlook.com) in push mode, which I changed to polling every 1 hour but didn't make a difference.

    Any suggestions?

I'm considering going back to the Q10 and ditching the Z.

something else in your phone - an app- not the texts- that is causing this if you are having battery drain for a month. you need to go through each and everyone of your app you have downloaded.

if you are using a lot of social media on your phone with posts and blogs [ because the larger screen will induce you to do so] you may want to check all your settings for notifications/downloading/wifi/network etc.... your brightness does not need to be on 50%. your email account is not the culprit and really should not be set on 1 hour unless you are on holidays. Again check out all your settings for your social media apps-

    Thanks RedChili88,

I've seen some advises that the latest leat -2947 with radio -2235 is the best combination for the Z30, at least someone using a STA100-2 (European model) and under the same circumstances as me (4G, social) gives about day and a half of power. I will try this and let you guys know.

as a matter of interest, I am not sure that you need to use a leak. Leaks are destructive. STA100-2 is not an european model . It is all over the world. 2102 works perfectly well. There is no such thing as best combination either. A stable reliable official release is normally the OS that should be used if your device is a working horse - You will not get a day and a half of battery either on any Z30. [ unless of course it is used sparingly - but then why get a z30? a nokia would do ]

Haha my Nokia 808 surprisingly gives me two days.

In other hand, then how would you explain the Q10 giving a full work day and still has 20% left by 10pm?

I will test this new leak and see how it goes.

Nope it's the os and texts.. this happened today and all because I received 4 texts that I didn't open and answer. I've pinned this down exactly now, it's definitely texts causing the problem for me.
