Easy to fix. Are you still online?

    There are two options/methods. Both are workarounds - I moved from a Z10 to a Z30, too.

    1) Upgrade to the same revision that your Z10 had - then the backup works.
    2) Modify the backup file "manifest.xml" to make LINK think that it is older than your phone.

Option 1: You need to go to the Leaks section and upgrade http://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-le...evices-858678/ It is a two step process because in this leak the RADIO was linked separately. You need a Windows environment to do the leak, however.

Option 2: The backup file is a type of ZIP file. Inside that zip file is a file called "manifest.xml". I'm a PC kind of guy so I can't tell you how to do this on a MAC - but on Windows I would use "7ZIP" freeware to open the archive, then just edit the manifest to change the revision text to 10.2.0.0, and then you're done.

Personally? I would do the upgraded leak thing.

Another idea : There is a MAC version of "SACHESI" (http://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-le...taller-825409/) which can go and retrieve the upgrade for you from your Carrier's website. That might be a better path for you, too.

The upgrade is what I chose for myself. It's not hard.

I'll see if there is a way to do it easily with SACHESI for you (just need to find the right carrier)

Where are you based and what Carrier do you use?

OK - Found the right method for you (best one, IMHO): http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe...france-868778/

Follow those instructions and you should be 1) upgraded nicely and 2) able to read your backups.

Option 1 I downloaded the file but my POS Mac won't allow me to run the 'unrecognized' developer or whatever that means.

So I am trying option 2. Going to a PC. I have downloaded 7ZIP. All I need to do is unzip the .bbb file and just edit the manifest to change the revision text to 10.2.0.0 right? I'm hoping it will become clear to me when I start playing with the files.

    Thanks ttune!

Option 2 worked like a charm. My z30 and BlackBerry Link is now restoring data despite version differences.

For all those having this issue, option 2 is the easiest imo
