insert headphones and go to music app. Then try to tune and listen to radio stations.

You'll find it in the music app.

You don't have to use the headphones as an aerial, you can plug in a standard 3.5 mm jack to jack cable and then switch to speaker output.

I had an old pair of head phones that the foam cushion was shot. I cut the head phones off and use them for the antenna. Then use the speakers. The sound is great!

You can not get FM radio without a SIM card.

I'm traveling in a country where my SIM is out of funds and the music app wants me to install the SIM card and let the music app use it for tuning purposes.

David, won't it work if you just put the sim card back in?

This Thread reminds me that I have a FM Radio on my phone. Still have not opened / tuned / listened radio on my Z30 after having it almost for a month.

Maybe, using a Z10 for a year earlier caused it.

I'm sure the radio works if you put the SIM card back in. The phone uses it to calibrate tuning.

Yes, this is an old thread but the only pertinent info I could find for FM aerial as a new OS 10.3.2 UNLOCKED Z30 owner.

First I don't need a sim card or an sdcard. Why anyone else does is a ?
Second everyone is correct, I've used the included headphones plus normal gaming headsets (just audio) and the same headsets with the 3.5mm 4 Position to 2 x 3 Male to Female Position Headset Splitter Adapter. Working good. IMPRESSIVE!

My device needs not really a SIM card but a valid data connection. This is a bit stupid, the data connection is used to get some background information about the local station(s) in the area and the thing can't live without this. If you assume FM is just FM over the air and it could display RDS data or at least a damned frequency you're wrong - it just does nothing. As if these informations were more important than what I listen to. I tend to switch off my cellular network while I'm in a foreign country for some days (and this is not unusual in Europe) to avoid roaming costs. But this excludes me also consequently from receiving FM, except I find wifi somewhere. (But if I have wifi I have also TuneIn and more ...) I had a none-smart Sony mobile before, this could receive FM much less idiotic.

I only needed the sim to get certain stations in the area that weren't on the pre-defined list on my q5. Once these stations were saved, no sim required.

No it is not perfect especially travelling in new areas, but once set up, dataless and networkless FM radio is a great option for those not willing or able to pay to listen to the radio.

No, it uses the 3.5mm jack headphones as the aerial
