Using Z30.OS Ver 10.3.1.2582, SR 10.3.1.1784. Tried to download 22 songs(310 Mb) to my SD card (64Gb,formatted, containing already all the files for quite some time). It took me almost 40 min to download. Tried with USB cable, tried wireless. I think it has something to do with 10.3 update. Used the same method to download the songs with 10.2 software. That time it was quick and safe. After that tried to download additional 17 songs (150 Mb) it another 25 min. All songs are mp3 format. What went wrong?

How were you copying/moving the files? Windows' Explorer or BBLink?

Tried Link first, there was no response. Plus you can add one file at the time. Then I used Windows Explorer. I used WE before, it never took me that long. I already gave close to 2000 songs on my BlackBerry. So this is not the first time I have been doing this. But this is the first time that took so long. And I don't use BlackBerry Link for the same reason.

I guess you could restart the phone if you haven't or reboot the computer. I've generally has reasonable speed with usb/wifi transfers. But I've seen threads where others have had very slow copy processes.

    Try a restart:

Press and HOLD both Vol Up/Down buttons. Keep holding while the screen goes fully black (ignore the screenshot), keep holding through the Black/White logo and when the Colored Logo shows up, release those buttons.

If you have a Z10: If you have the STL100-1 variant the volume button reset method doesn't work. In that case, Press and HOLD the Power On Button until you see the LOGO as above

I tried to reboot but to no avail. Here is another catch. I still have my Z10. I repeated the same steps as I did with Z30. To download 17 songs ( same ones) it took me less than 2 minutes. The only difference between the 2 phones is naturally model, size of the SD card and finally the OS version.

Try swapping SD cards in the phones and see if you get the same results.

Swapped the cards. No change whatsoever. Then I noticed another " feature": soon as I connected Z30 to my PC I received the window ( on Z30) asking me to enter password for Visual Voice mail. Never had that before. Anyway that proves the point that the problem lies within the software.

Not all USB connections are the same speed. Have you tried a different port?

Have you tried switching to USB Mass Storage mode? Aside from physically removing the SD card and connecting to my computer for fast drag and drop transfers....USB Mass Storage is pretty much the same speed when transferring files (drag and drop) back and forth to phone and computer and/or vice versa.

No need for BlackBerry link for this simple fast file transfer process.

If Link was running at the time while you tried it with Windows Explorer, it could have been running a back up or Media Sync at that time. That would cause the USB connection to be saturated with data, causing the Windows Explorer copy to be very slow.
